Steppenwolf Theatre Company announces an exciting new matching gift campaign to help make the Steppenwolf experience accessible for people with disabilities (as well as their friends and families) with a gift to Steppenwolf's Art Access campaign. Art Access is a one week campaign to raise funds for Steppenwolf's accessibility services. All gifts between April 9-16 will be matched up to $10,000 by Skadden. Gifts to Steppenwolf's Art Access campaign can be made at https://www.steppenwolf.org/support-us/art-access.

In conjunction with the world premiere of The Doppelganger (an international farce) by Matthew-Lee Erlbach, Steppenwolf Theatre Company is offering four free events on select Sundays during the run of the show. Steppenwolf's LookOut series is proud to present The Yard's production of columbinus by the United States Theatre Project, written by Stephen Karam and PJ Paparelli. Directed by Mechelle Moe and performed by The Yard's 15 young-person ensemble, columbinus runs Thursday, May 3 - Saturday, May 26 in the 1700 Theatre.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company celebrates 42 seasons of innovative ensemble theatre with an evening of celebration emceed by actor Rainn Wilson, who will be starring in The Doppelganger (an international farce) at Steppenwolf this spring and is well-known for his role as "Dwight Schrute" on NBC's award-winning comedy The Office. Comedian, actor, director and producer Chris Rock, who is best known for his standup comedy and who starred in the world premiere Broadway production of The Motherf**ker with the Hat directed by Steppenwolf Artistic Director Anna D. Shapiro, will be the guest auctioneer alongside Christie's Robbie Gordy.

Rehearsals kicked off today for Steppenwolf Theatre Company's highly anticipated world premiere comedy, The Doppelganger (an international farce) written by Chicagoland native Matthew-Lee Erlbach (Showtime's Masters of Sex, Off-Broadway's Handbook for an American Revolutionary).

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents the Chicago premiere production of Guards at the Taj by acclaimed playwright Rajiv Joseph, directed by ensemble member Amy Morton. A stunning tale about the search for beauty in desperate circumstances, the Steppenwolf production will feature the original cast members, Omar Metwally (Humayun) and Arian Moayed (Babur), whom Amy Morton directed in the Off-Broadway world premiere which received rave reviews when it premiered in 2015 and won the 2016 Obie Award for Best New American Play.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) is proud to produce the world premiere of The Burn, written by acclaimed Chicago playwright Philip Dawkins and directed by Devon de Mayo. Featuring a cast of professional actors, The Burn addresses the bullying and social media issues that many teens experience in school.  Public performances for The Burn are Saturday, February 17 at 3pm and 7:30pm; Friday, February 23 at 7:30pm; Saturday, February 24 at 3pm and 7:30pm; Friday, March 2 at 7:30pm; Saturday, March 3 at 3pm and 7:30pm; and Saturday, March 10 at 3pm in the Upstairs Theatre.  Weekday performances are reserved for school groups only. Tickets to public performances ($20; $15 with student I.D.) are available through Audience Services (1650 N Halsted St), 312-335-1650 and steppenwolf.org.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company Artistic Director Anna D. Shapiro announced today the addition of Celeste M. Cooper and Cliff Chamberlain to the world-renowned Steppenwolf ensemble. Cooper, an in-demand Chicago-based actor, recently performed in Steppenwolf's production of BLKS and Chamberlain, a regular on the Steppenwolf stage, was recently featured in The Minutes by ensemble member Tracy Letts.

From February 8 through April 29, 2018, the Art Institute of Chicago will present the first solo museum exhibition in the United States of Mounira Al Solh (b. 1978), a visual artist living and working between Beirut, Lebanon, and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Started in 2012 in response to the humanitarian and political crises in Syria and the Middle East, Al Solh's ongoing series of drawings, or as she prefers to call them, time documents, emerged from deeply personal encounters and conversations between the artist and Syrian refugees, as well as other people from the Middle East who were forcibly displaced to Lebanon, Europe, the United States, and other parts of the world. In the span of five years these conversations have transitioned from hopeful and joyful with the prospect of new opportunities following the popular uprising in Syria to dismal and urgent with the subsequent Syrian Civil War. Each of the drawings made on yellow legal paper to index the bureaucracy that is tied to the status of political refugee is based on the personal story of the people Al Solh meets.
