Jackalope Theatre Company wraps up its 8th season with The 7th Annual Living Newspaper Festival. In homage to the 1930's Living Newspapers of the Federal Theatre Project, Jackalope has assembled an exciting group of Chicago playwrights, directors, and actors to dramatize stories ripped from recent newspaper headlines.
First Floor Theater (FFT) is thrilled to announce its third annual literary festival, KAFKAPALOOZA, a festival of nine world premiere plays, by some of Chicago's most exciting playwrights, inspired by the life and work of Franz Kafka. Over the past two years, the FFT LitFest has brought together some of Chicago's greatest writers, including Seth Bockley, Philip Dawkins, Bonnie Metzgar, Ike Holter, Morgan McNaught, andPaul Oakley Stovall, to respond to literary greats The Brothers Grimm and Mark Twain.
To accommodate the high demand for tickets, American Theater Company (ATC), 1909 W. Byron Street, has added performances for its critically acclaimed Chicago premiere of The Royale by Marco Ramirez (Marvel's Daredevil, Orange is the New Black), directed by ATC Ensemble Member Jaime Castañeda. This newly revised script premieres in Chicago prior to its production at The Bush Theatre in London.
First Floor Theater continues their acclaimed third season with an explosive world premiere written by Company Member Emmett Rensin, directed by FFT Artistic Producer Will Bishop, and developed collaboratively by the company - a first for FFT - playing April 19-May 9 at The Pentagon Theatre in The Flat Iron Arts Building.
