Palm Springs Opera Guild, one of the longest-standing cultural institutions in the Coachella Valley, will host the 20th Anniversary Opera in the Park on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 1 - 4 pm at Sunrise Park in Palm Springs. The free concert will feature eight career-ready singers accompanied by a professional orchestra conducted by Maestro Valery Ryvkin. Event attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day of beloved opera arias. Limited shade space under the main tent may be purchased by making a contribution through the Opera Guild office at 760-325-6107. The event draws thousands of people from all over Southern California who unite to celebrate great opera music. Sunrise Park is located at 2000 East Ramon Road, Palm Springs.

The 17th Annual Tribeca Film Festival Announces Short Film Lineup With Narrative, Documentary, & Animated Shorts

The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its lineup of 55 diverse and engaging short films in competition, including 29 world premieres. The selected shorts include a cross-section of international and U.S. filmmakers and were curated from a record 4,754 submissions. For the second year running, 40% of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs, which consist of five narrative, three documentary, one animation, and one hybrid program. The program will also include special screenings and the 12th annual Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, sponsored by Mohegan Sun. The Shorts Film program, sponsored by Nutella®, runs throughout the Festival, April 18-29.

Bloomingdale School of Music is pleased to continue its Faculty Focus Performance Series with a solo concert by piano faculty member Nuno da Silva Marques in a program devoted to the works of the great pianist/composers Frederic Chopin, Enrique Granados and Sergei Rachmaninov. Their music for piano as well as their own virtuosity at the instrument influenced generations of composers and pianists. The concert will be held in the David Greer Recital Hall located at the school's home site at 323 West 95th Street, between Broadway and Riverside Drive in Manhattan. Seating is limited.
