The Hollywood Arts Council's 28th Annual Charlie Awards Luncheon, benefiting the Council's arts programs for underserved children in the community, will be held on April 25, 2014. Emceed by ABC7 Television's George Pennacchio, the luncheon will take place in the Blossom Room in the Hollywoof Roosevelt Hotel. Arrivals will happen between 11:15am and 12:00noon, at which time the event begins.

Following his acclaimed New York Philharmonic debut on the ASIA / WINTER 2014 tour, jazz pianist Makoto Ozone will join Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic in a newly added concert tonight, April 22, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.

The 2014 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, will return for the 49th season with five free outdoor concerts, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, in Prospect Park, Brooklyn (July 9); Cunningham Park, Queens (July 10); the Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan (July 11 and 14); and Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx (July 15). In addition, New York Philharmonic musicians will perform a Free Indoor Concert at the Center for the Arts, College of Staten Island, CUNY (July 13).

The New York Philharmonic and the Music Academy of the West have entered into a four-year partnership that will create unique and intensive opportunities for selected Music Academy Fellows to train with New York Philharmonic musicians and Music Director Alan Gilbert in Santa Barbara and New York. Alan Gilbert, the New York Philharmonic, its Assistant Conductors, and musicians will have a presence at the Music Academy Summer Festival for training and performances each summer for four years beginning in 2014, culminating in a joint concert with the New York Philharmonic and Academy Festival Orchestra celebrating the Music Academy's 70th anniversary in 2017.

Award-winning British Lyricist Anthony Drewe is be a guest narrator at two special performances of the critically acclaimed cabaret, A Spoonful of Sherman, which returns to the St James Studio for a week-long run of nine shows from Tuesday 15 - Tuesday 22 April.

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado for the Orchestra's 12th- annual summer residency there, performing six concerts July 18-25, 2014. Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct three programs, July 18-20, featuring works by composers for whom he has advocated during his tenure, ranging from Nielsen to The Marie-Jose?e Kravis Composer-in- Residence Christopher Rouse. The other Philharmonic concerts will be conducted by Bramwell Tovey (July 23 and 25) and Ted Sperling (July 24), and will feature works by Copland, Gershwin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and Loesser, among others.

Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 and Nielsen's Helios Overture at the Annual Free Memorial Day Concert, Monday, May 26, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. at The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. This will be the 23rd Annual Free Memorial Day Concert offered by the New York Philharmonic, a tradition begun in 1992 as a gift to the people of New York City. Alan Gilbert has led the Annual Free Memorial Day Concert each year since becoming Music Director in the 2009-10 season. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the performance; ticket distribution will begin at 6:00 p.m. The audio of the performance will be broadcast onto the adjacent Pulpit Green, weather permitting. The program will be presented without intermission.

We have a potpourri of fun planned for our April 6th show, including lots of comedy, some beautiful April-themed songs, and an amazing cast. You'll hear songs you know and songs you don't know, including the world premiere of a brand new Richard M. Sherman song, written with Kritzerland's Bruce Kimmel. And playing it will be Richard M. Sherman, our very special guest star - and as if that and our great cast wasn't enough, we have another guest star, too, the beautiful and superlative Andrea Marcovicci. Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic will continue The Nielsen Project-the Philharmonic's multi-year focus on Danish composer Carl Nielsen launched in the 2010-11 season-with performances of Nielsen'sHelios Overture and Symphony No. 1, both in their first-ever performances at the Philharmonic, and Symphony No. 4, tonight, March 12, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, March 15 at 8:00 p.m. The works will be recorded for later release on Denmark's Dacapo label.
