ROBIN HOOD: OCCUPY SHERWOOD Premieres at Frederick Community College, 8/10

The world premiere production of Robin Hood: Occupy Sherwood - the tale of the original caped crusader and his band of 'merry men' sticking it to the one-percenters is coming to the JBK Theatre at Frederick Community College (7932 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick) from August 10th through the 18th. The show is produced as part of Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) annual summer outreach program in partnership with The Ensemble School, Frederick Community College and Hood College. Written by local talent Sarah Shulman and directed by Julie Herber, Robin Hood: Occupy Sherwood presents a new take on the classic legend that will entertain the whole family.

Last night, after the remaining 17 acts performed, the judges eliminated five acts, revealing THE X FACTOR Top 12 Finalists: Girls - Melanie Amaro, Rachel Crow and Drew; Boys - Astro, Marcus Canty and Chris Rene; Over 30s - LeRoy Bell, Stacy Francis and Josh Krajcik; Groups - InTENsity, Lakoda Rayne and The Stereo Hogzz.

The Howard County Arts Council will hold its 21st annual Road to the Arts weekend on September 24th to the 26th. This event celebrates the beginning of the 2010-2011 gallery season and encourages art lovers to explore the breadth and diversity of visual arts opportunities in Howard County. Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theater will perform 'Twelfth Night (or What You Will),' the timeless Shakespearean tale of mistaken identity and misplaced matrimony, November 12 to 29, 2009 as part of La MaMa Puppet Series 3. This three-tea-tray production, adapted and directed by Vít Horejš, will feature 16 eight-inch toy marionettes and three (more or less) live performers.

Just in time for the Purim season, Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre will perform its 'The Historye of Queen Esther, of King Ahasverus & of the Haughty Haman' from February 21 to March 7 at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater of the West Side Y, located on West 64th St. just West of Central Park West, Manhattan. The production features modernist marionettes and those from the Czech Puppetry repertoire and is recommended for family audiences.
