Broadway Theatre Project (BTP) will feature a slate of prolific performers, directors, choreographers, composers, casting agents and other professionals from Broadway and Hollywood as part of the Project's roster of Teaching Faculty for its 2014 session, as announced today by the BTP's Artistic Directors Debra McWaters and Darren Gibson.
The York Theatre Company, will present a Remembering Mary Martin, a one-night only special event on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
The York Theatre Company continues its 2013-2014 season with the world premiere of the new musical, Inventing Mary Martin, conceived, written and directed by Stephen Cole, with music supervision and arrangements by David Krane, music direction by Lawrence Goldberg, co-directed and choreographed by Bob Richard, and original music and lyrics by legendary composers Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein, Vernon Duke & Howard Dietz, Kurt Weill & Ogden Nash, Noel Coward, Irving Berlin, Jule Styne & Carolyn Leigh, Howard Dietz & Arthur Schwartz, and Tom Jones & Harvey Schmidt, among others. Virginia's Signature Theatre presents the world premiere musical Beaches, opening tonight, March 4, 2014, and playing through March 30. Adapted from the beloved 1985 novel by Iris Rainer Dart, Beaches is directed by Signature Theatre's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). This heartfelt chronicle of a decades-long friendship between two unforgettable women stars Mara Davi (Broadway's A Chorus Line and The Drowsy Chaperone) as Bertie and Alysha Umphress (Broadway's American Idiot and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) as Cee Cee Bloom.
Side Show, based on the true life story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, is set to be revived at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in performances running from June 14 - July 13, 2014. Side Show originally opened on Broadway in 1997, starring Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner as the Hilton twins. Telling the story of their rise from circus attractions to famous vaudeville performers during the Great Depression, Side Show brings us the sisters' lifelong search for fortune, romance, and a spot on the stage.

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company presents Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani and directed by Jack Cummings III. Due to strong ticket sales, this first New York revival of one of the country's most produced plays will now play through Sunday, March 2 at the Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street at West 4 Street.
