Symphony Space's annual Spring Festival has become one of the season's most keenly awaited events. This year's installment, Sleeping Around: The Cultural Lives of New York's Hotels, may be the most provocative yet. Running from April 26 to May 21, the monthlong festival celebrates New York's landmark hotels, their occupants, and the lengendary boites that nurtured and sustained the evergreen songs and performers of cabaret. Sleeping Around also credits New York's hotels as incubators for film, classical music, and literature, with programs devoted to Andy Warhol, Virgil Thomson, and Dorothy Parker.
25 years to the day the film was released, HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL, the new stage adaptation of Daniel Waters' iconic 1989 dark comedy, made its New York premiere at New World Stages. Written by Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee Laurence O'Keefe and Emmy Award winner Kevin Murphy, HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL is directed by famed stage and screen director Andy Fickman, with choreography by Emmy Award winner Marguerite Derricks. Today, Red Bull Theater announced the cast for their Staged Reading of The Roaring Girl, by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton: Emily Bergl (of Showtime's 'Shameless'), Sheila Bandyopadhyay, Michael Braun, Clifton Duncan, Miriam Hyman, Whit Leyenberger, David Manis, Alex Morf, Tom O'Keefe, Bhavesh Patel, Pearl Rhein, Rocco Sisto, Raphael Nash Thompson, Sam Tsoutsouvas, and Lisa Wolpe. The Roaring Girl will be directed by Ben Prusiner and will take place Monday March 24th at 7:30pm at the Lucille Lortel Theater, 121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets.

Emily Bergl has announced she is partnering with the Voices and Face Project, a documentary project giving voice and face to survivors of sexual violence. ?The project will be hosting a writing workshop in New York called the 'The Stories We Tell,' which is a 2-day summit that provides survivors the opportunity to write about their experiences and learn the power of testimony. This workshop has already traveled to five other cities, and is funded completely by the generosity of donors.
