BWW REVIEWS: Keeton Theatre's GODSPELL
by Jeffrey Ellis - Apr 10, 2015

Its Vacation Bible School vibe aside, Godspell - the Stephen Schwartz musical from 1971 that grew from a class project at Carnegie Mellon University that most recently was revived on Broadway in 2011 - relates the parables of Jesus Christ in a sprightly, colorful way that can be entertaining and elucidating. Now onstage at The Larry Keeton Theatre, Nashville's theater home for classic musical comedies, Godspell features a winning cast led by Wesley King and Elliott Robinson under the direction of musical theater veterans Jamie London and Ginger Newman.

Elliott Robinson Stars as WILLY WONKA in Upcoming Circle Players Production
by Jeffrey Ellis - Oct 4, 2011

When Circle Players presents the Leslie Bricusse-Anthony Newly musical Willy Wonka, running October 14-30 at the Keeton Theatre in Donelson, the audience will be exposed to plenty of sugary treats. After all, the stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic story is mostly set in a magical chocolate factory where its owner, Willy Wonka, is checking out possible heirs to his candy empire. He puts his young candidates through a series of character tests which only one boy, Charlie Bucket, passes.

BWW Reviews: JEKYLL & HYDE from Circle Players
by Jeffrey Ellis - Oct 28, 2010

There's no doubt about it: Circle Players' Tim Larson is fearless. Perhaps no director in Nashville is more ambitious than Larson who, time after time, takes on the seemingly impossible and reimagines it as something well within the reach of his creative collective of actors, designers, technicians and musicians. Larson's staging of Titanic, a project he's taken on twice to great and justifiable acclaim, proves that even that musical is something which seasoned and capable community theater groups can tackle.
