The Boston Theater Critics Association has announced that the 35th annual Elliot Norton Awards will feature the theme ALTERNATIVE ACTS, celebrating the Boston area's theater community, future artists, and the importance of the arts in our country. Two-time Tony Award-winning actress Cherry Jones will be the Guest of Honor at the much-anticipated annual event, which will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 7 PM, at the Huntington Theatre Company's BU Theatre. A portion of the evening's proceeds will be donated to the Boston Arts Academy to support the region's next generation of artists.

The 15th anniversary production of Theresa Rebeck's irresistible comedy Bad Dates will complete the Huntington Theatre Company's 2017-2018 season. Bad Dates will be directed by Huntington favorite Jessica Stone (This season's Ripcord and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at the Huntington), and the play joins the previously announced seven titles in the 2017-2018 season.

Artists Rep & Isinglass Partner to Host Summer Theatre Leadership Academy for High School Students

Artists Repertory Theatre is partnering with local arts advocacy non-profit Isinglass to offer Egg, the organization's three year-old summer theatre leadership academy. Egg is an intensive seven-week program that teaches high school students the art and business of producing their own theatrical production. This summer 2017 program concludes with a week-long planning session for students to develop theatre and arts advocacy projects which they implement in their own schools during the following school year.
