On May 14th, 2018, actor and comedian Jon Glaser (Late Night with Conan O'Brien, truTV's Jon Glaser Loves Gear) will host a star-studded gala, celebrating the Obie-Award winning theater ensemble, Elevator Repair Service. Under the direction of founding Artistic Director John Collins, Elevator Repair Service is known for creating original works of theater with an ongoing ensemble of actors and designers. Gatz, their verbatim staging of "The Great Gatsby," was called "the most remarkable achievement in theater of this decade" by The New York Times.

Ballet Hispánico will honor Latin music superstars Emilio & Gloria Estefan with theNuestra Inspiración Award; legendary fashion designer Carolina Herrera with theToda Una Vida Award; and businessman and community activist Marcos Torres with the Civic Inspiration Award; at its annual CARNAVAL Gala on Monday, May 7, 2018 at The Plaza Hotel's Grand Ballroom, 768 Fifth Avenue, NYC. Cocktails begin at 6:30pmand dinner and dancing commence at 7:30pm. Proceeds, which totaled over $1.1 million last year, benefit the creation of new choreographic works, much needed scholarships for young people, and immersive dance programs for communities around the world.

Hub Theatre Company of Boston will kick off its highly anticipated sixth season with the Pulitzer Prize nominated play TRUE WEST by the late Sam Shepard, directed by Daniel Bourque, starring Bob Mussett, Victor Shopov, Robert Orzalli and Maureen Adduci. The show runs Friday, April 13 through Saturday, April 28, 2018 at First Church Boston, 66 Marlborough Street in Boston's Back Bay.  Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 5 pm. All performances are "Pay-What-You-Can."  Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected at each performance for local charities. With Bedlam's Saint Joan concluding Folger Theatre's 2017/18 season, The Washington Post chief theater critic Peter Marks sits down with the production's celebrated director Eric Tucker for a lively theater talk on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:00pm. Marks and Tucker will discuss the innovative, stripped-down staging of George Bernard Shaw's classic Saint Joan, the success of Eric's Bedlam theater in New York, bringing Jane Austen to the stage (Folger's Sense and Sensibility), approaching Shakespeare and other classic authors for a modern audience, and more.

Centastage, Boston's launchpad for new theatrical works by New England playwrights, presents Noir Hamlet, a new full-length play in one act, from June 14 through 30 at the Plaza Black Box Theatre at Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont Street, Boston. Noir Hamlet is written by local playwright John Minigan and directed by Joe Antoun. The production is supported by The Bob Jolly Charitable Trust.

The Boston Theater Critics Association has announced that Randy Rainbow, comedian, actor, and internet sensation, will be the Guest of Honor at the 36th Annual Elliot Norton Awards on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 7 PM, at the Huntington Avenue Theatre.  

Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) presents Boston Theater Marathon XX, featuring 50 ten-minute plays, written by 51 New England playwrights, and produced by 50 New England theatres in ten hours.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the 2018 Free Shakespeare in the Park production of OTHELLO beginning Tuesday, May 29 at the Delacorte Theater, continuing a 56-year tradition of free theater in Central Park. Directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson, OTHELLO will officially open on Monday, June 18 and will run through Sunday, June 24.

Pan Asian Repertory Theatre (Tisa Chang, Founding Artistic Producing Director), continuing its 41st milestone season on themes of social justice and historic amnesia, presents the world premiere of the new play Daybreak by Joyce van Dyke (A Girl's War).  Performances BEGIN TOMORROW, April 21, 2018 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 13, 2018 at The Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street).  Opening Night is Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

Two dozen nominations of outstanding actors, directors, designers and ensembles were announced today by The Boston Theater Critics Association for the 36th Annual Elliot Norton Awards, celebrating achievement in Boston theatre.

Frank Baum's beloved The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Wiz combines fairy-tale glamour with street smarts to make a classic fantasy sparkle for today.  And our directors and choreographer will bring a blast of New Orleans Creole magic to this production!  Winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score, The Wiz ingeniously mixes rock, gospel, soul, and jazz, and features hits like 'Ease on Down the Road,' 'A Brand New Day,' and 'Home.'

The Apollo Theater, the soul of American culture and Harlem's town square, today announced the appointment of Aldo Scrofani as its new Chief Operating Officer. A veteran of the live entertainment industry, Scrofani has been involved with over 100 theatrical productions and worked with some of the largest names in the performing arts; his appointment is effective immediately.

The Nora Theatre Company is proud to present the World Premiere of Joyce Van Dyke's The Women Who Mapped the Stars from April 19 to May 20, 2018. The production is directed by Jessica Ernst. Kitchen Theatre Company continues its 2017-2018 Season with the world premiere of Brawler by Walt McGough, a play about pro sports and what it means to be a hero, produced in collaboration with Boston Playwrights' Theatre. Performances of Brawler begin at the Kitchen Theatre Company in The Percy Browning Performance Space on April 8 and run through April 22.

American Blues Theater concludes its 2017-2018 Season with BUDDY - The Buddy Holly Story, written by Alan Janes, directed by Lily-Anne Brown, with musical direction by Ensemble Member Michael Mahler.
