La MaMa in association with Out of the Box Theatrics presents the World Premiere of DYING IN BOULDER (or the perfect place to die if you have good karma) by Linda Faigao-Hall, directed by Ian Morgan (Associate Artistic Director of The New Group). La MaMa presents a limited encore engagement of Ping Chong + Company's critically-acclaimed Generation NYZ at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E 4th St) from January 24 through February 3.

Richard Frankel is one of Broadway's most respected producers and is one of the co-owners of Feinstein's/54 Below, arguable the most influential cabaret space in the world. LA MAMA continues its 57th season this Winter and Spring with a roster of singular artists from around the globe as they present new works, both USA and World Premieres alike, on such topics as social inequality, immigration, racism and homophobia, it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's Artistic Director.

Lucy Jackson in association with Dutch Kills Theater Company will present the World Premiere of INTELLIGENCE by John Golden Playwriting Award winner Helen Banner. Directed by 2017 Lucille Lortel Award winner Jess Chayes (Home/Sick, Half Moon Bay), previews begin January 12 at Next Door at NYTW. Opening is slated for Today, January 17.

Previews begin tonight for the world premiere production of The Convent, a new play by critically acclaimed playwright Jessica Dickey (The Amish Project, Charles Ives Take Me Home), directed by Daniel Talbott.

Albert Poland, a veteran Broadway producer and general manager, has recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to generate funding for a self-published memoir examining Poland's legendary career in theatre. 

As 2018 comes to a close, we are reflecting on those we have lost in the Broadway and theatre communities throughout the year.

From December 20 to 23, La MaMa Experimental Theater in association the GOH Productions will present the fourth annual production of East Village Dance Project's The Shell-Shocked Nut, an alternative Nutcracker set in the East Village, featuring an intergenerational cast of dancers and musicians.  The piece is recommended for family audiences.

La MaMa Presents Teatro delle Albe: ? Artist Talk with the author Marco Martinelli conversation moderated by Frank Hentschker and Valeria Orani, reading from Martinelli's "Rumore di acque" (Noise in the Waters) by Rocco Sisto (in English) and a short mise en espace from Teatro delle Albe's latest production "fedeli d'Amore" performed by Ermanna Montanari (in Italian -English supertitles).

Weathervane Productions, Rising Phoenix Repertory, in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announce casting for the world premiere production of The Convent

The Rome-based ONDADURTO TEATRO will make its U.S. debut with its newest work TERRAMIA, a multi-media performance art spectacle that takes an irreverent look at humanity through the eyes of an android.   This original work, accessible to a mixed international audience, uses text, movement, video, music and innovative scenography designed by creators Marco Paciotti and Lorenzo Pasquali, inspired by Physical Theatre, the Nouveau Cirque and Gesture Theatre.   Four performances, December 13-16, at the Ellen Stewart Theatre at La MaMa E.T.C., 66 East 4th Street, 2nd floor.

La MaMa is proud to present the Remote Theater Project production of Grey Rock, written and directed by Palestinian artist Amir Nizar Zuabi. This world premiere, which runs January 3-7, 2019, was commissioned by Remote Theater Project and marks the first time a U.S. theater company has commissioned a Palestinian artist to create an original work for American audiences. Grey Rock tells the story of a young Palestinian so enamored with the 1969 American moon landing that he muses, "shouldn't Palestine, the land of prophets, also have a presence on the moon?" Without money or technology, but with the help of his bemused West Bank neighbors, he sets out to build a space shuttle. Knowing full well that he can't succeed with this impossible, but necessary, task, the young man is visited by American heroes who guide him on his mission. Humorous and fantastical, Grey Rock explores the influence that America has had over Palestinian culture.

LA MAMA - the 2018 Tony Award winning theater - will present the world premiere play-CHASING THE NEW WHITE WHALE, by newly appointed "Playwright in Residence" MIKE GORMAN, at the Ellen Stewart Theater (66 E. 4 St.) in the East Village,November 24 - December 9, 2018.  Previews begin Saturday November 24 prior to a press opening night on Monday November 26.

The play is no longer titled TORCH SONG TRILOGY and the venue is no longer known as The Little Theatre, but there's still a marvelous homecoming taking place at The Helen Hayes, where Second Stage's recent Off-Broadway revival of Harvey Fierstein's groundbreaking TORCH SONG has transferred to the home of its historic original Broadway run.
