Palace Theatre To Reopen November 2 After Complete Auditorium Renovation

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 92-year-old Palace Theatre has received a full facelift of its 2,691-seat auditorium. The first major renovation for the Palace since 1984, the six-month, main-hall makeover included the repair of damaged plaster, new paint in a new color scheme, all-new seats on the main floor, full refurbishment of balcony seats, and installation of a new LED house lighting system in the dome and main chandelier. The first public performance in the fully renovated auditorium will be Grammy-nominated comedian Jim Gaffigan on Friday, November 2.

Cincinnati Pops Orchestra to Release Latest Album, American Originals: 1918 on 11/9

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra announced the November 9 release of its latest album, American Originals: 1918, under the direction of Pops Conductor John Morris Russell. The recording is inspired by America's cultural awakening at the end of the First World War one hundred years ago and the distinctly American musical styles that reflect the country's diversity. This album celebrates and reimagines popular songs of this era that remain fresh and relevant today with acclaimed musical collaborators including Rhiannon Giddens, Steep Canyon Rangers and Pokey LaFarge. The 95th Cincinnati Pops album was recorded live at Cincinnati Music Hall November 10- 12, 2017, and is being released on the Orchestra's label, Fanfare Cincinnati.

This special evening will mark their first time performing at the legendary Apollo in over 20 years. Riley and Sweat will be joined by pioneers of the sound, including, Guy, Blackstreet, Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe Dee and more to be announced.  More than a concert, The Kings and Queens of New Jack Swing underscores The Apollo's commitment to celebrating the contributions of African American artists and the Theater's role in the American and global musical landscape.

Make Music Winter Returns To NYC With Live Music In All 5 Boroughs

Make Music Winter, a free, outdoor music-making celebration featuring 12 participatory musical parades across New York City on the winter solstice, returns this year on Friday, Dec. 21. The all-day musical celebration on the shortest day of the year brings New Yorkers of all styles, ages and skill levels together to sing, play, march and dance their way across streets, parks, plazas and other public spaces citywide. Make Music Winter, which launched in NYC eight years ago and this year is expanding nationwide with more than 20 U.S. cities participating, is the cold-weather counterpart to Make Music Day, the annual global celebration of music occurring on June 21, the summer solstice.
