ON KENTUCKY AVENUE Sweeps 46th Annual Audelco Awards With Six Wins

On Nov. 19, 2018, the 46th Annual Vivian Robinson AUDELCO Recognition Awards for Excellence in Black Theatre were held at Tribeca Performing Arts Center. On Kentucky Avenue, a new original musical created by Jeree Wade and written by Adam Wade and Ty Stephens, was nominated for 10 AUDELCO Awards, taking home a total of six, the highest number of wins for the evening, including for "Best Musical."

NSAL Florida East Coast Chapter Holds Nation's First Collaborative Piano & Brass Duo Competition

The National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) Florida East Coast Chapter recently held the nation's first Collaborative Piano and Brass Duo Competition. The event, held at Lynn University in Boca Raton, is the only competition in the United States which recognizes and awards the duo as two parts of equal importance, akin to figure skating pairs. Bonnie Gilgallon Debuts Rosemary Clooney Tribute Show In Palm Desert

Local entertainer Bonnie Gilgallon will debut her new one-woman cabaret concert on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Arthur Newman Theater in Palm Desert. The show is entitled "Bonnie Sings Rosie" and the Rosie is the incomparable Rosemary Clooney. Bonnie's show is part of the Cabaret On Sundays Series 10th season and presented by Les Michaels. Joining Bonnie will be pianist Joel Baker and Danny Flahive on bass. Tickets for the show are $15 cash only and sold at the door that opens at 1 pm for the 2 pm show.

Canadian Songbird Set To Wow With Legends Of Carnegie Hall

Singer Alison MacDonald will pay tribute to the most beloved songstresses to ever hit the stage at Carnegie Hall during her Beyond the Stage performance this month. During Legends of Carnegie Hall, MacDonald will sing popular tunes from chanteuses such as Patsy Cline, Judy Garland, Liza Minelli, Bette Midler, Carole King, Ella Fitzgerald, and more. MacDonald will be joined by special guests Rachel Bowron (Friday and Sunday performances) and Celeigh Cardinal (Saturday performance). 

Cincinnati Pops Orchestra to Release Latest Album, American Originals: 1918 on Today

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra announced the November 9 release of its latest album, American Originals: 1918, under the direction of Pops Conductor John Morris Russell. The recording is inspired by America's cultural awakening at the end of the First World War one hundred years ago and the distinctly American musical styles that reflect the country's diversity. This album celebrates and reimagines popular songs of this era that remain fresh and relevant today with acclaimed musical collaborators including Rhiannon Giddens, Steep Canyon Rangers and Pokey LaFarge. The 95th Cincinnati Pops album was recorded live at Cincinnati Music Hall November 10- 12, 2017, and is being released on the Orchestra's label, Fanfare Cincinnati.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, New York City Center's Principal Dance Company, returns to the theater's stage from November 28 - December 30, 2018 for a milestone season. Carnegie Hall Names Concert Series The Joyce And George T. Wein Shape Of Jazz Series

Carnegie Hall today announced that in recognition of a gift of $1 million from legendary jazz producer George Wein and honoring his incredible legacy presenting leading jazz artists at the Hall, The Shape of Jazz concert series will be formally named the Joyce and George T. Wein Shape of Jazz series. The series kicks off this Saturday, November 10, at 9:00 p.m. at a sold-out Zankel Hall performance by Cuban-born drummer, composer, bandleader, and 2011 MacArthur "Genius" Fellow Dafnis Prieto featuring his 17-piece orchestra.
