Provincetown CabaretFest 2018 Features Slate Of 28 Performers

The soulful songs and glamorous nightlife of the 1950s will swing once more when CabaretFest returns to Provincetown May 31 to June 3. Twenty-eight cabaret entertainers from Boston, New York City, Florida and Palm Springs, will participate in ten live shows, a Q&A luncheon panel session, two performance workshops, two Marilyn Maye Master Classes, and enjoy parties and networking along with VIP pass holders. The VIP pass includes entry to all the live shows, opportunities to monitor workshops and invitations to private parties. Festival Producer Patricia Fitzpatrick sums it up like this: 'Where else can you walk a few yards, see and hear so many of the nation's top cabaret performers in one place? Only in Provincetown. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Presents Its 20th Annual Mother's Day Engagement At NJPAC

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will once again grace the stage at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) Mother's Day Weekend with performances from Friday, May 11 - Sunday, May 13. 'Movement that'll move you" (New York magazine) is guaranteed for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's 20th anniversary engagement at NJPAC - the culmination of the Company's 21-city North American tour. Artistic Director Robert Battle leads Ailey's 32 extraordinary dancers as they continue the Company's legacy of using the African-American cultural experience and the American modern dance tradition to uplift, unite, and enlighten. Three diverse and exciting programs spotlighting premieres and new productions by influential choreographic voices will inspire audiences at Prudential Hall, all closing with a stirring finale of Alvin Ailey's always must-see American masterpiece, Revelations. Maestro LUKE FRAZIER and THE AMERICAN POPS ORCHESTRA - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - will conclude their star-studded third season with Let's Misbehave: Cole Porter After Dark at the Orchestra's new home, Arena Stage at The Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth Street SW) on Saturday, May 19 at 8:00 PM. Let's Misbehave will feature guest stars Betty Who (the pop star making her orchestra debut), Liz Callaway (Tony Award nominee, voice of Disney's Princess Jasmine and Anastasia), Ali Ewoldt ((Phantom of the Opera on Broadway), Helen Hayes Awards Winner), Vishal Vaidya (Groundhog Day on Broadway), and Mo Rocca ('CBS Sunday Morning,' NPR's 'Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me!'). The Philly POPS announced its 40th Anniversary 2018-19 concert season today. Subscriptions for this celebratory 40th Anniversary Season go on sale at 10 a.m. Moe Septee founded the POPS in November 1979 with a concert at the Academy of Music. Celebrated jazz pianist Peter Nero conducted the POPS from 1979 until 2013.
