 Nominees for the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding individual, cast and ensemble performances in film and television of 2019, as well as the nominees for outstanding action performances by film and television stunt ensembles, were announced this morning at the Pacific Design Center's SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 23a?"February 2, 2020. The Sundance Film Festival is Sundance Institute's flagship public program, widely regarded as the largest American independent film festival and attended by more than 120,000 people and 1,300 accredited press, and powered by more than 2,000 volunteers last year.

OWN Announces Additional Cast for Ava DuVernay's CHERISH THE DAY

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today the directorial lineup and additional casting for the first installment of the anticipated new romantic anthology drama “Cherish the Day,” created and executive produced by Emmy® winner/Academy Award®-nominee Ava DuVernay (“Queen Sugar,” “When They See Us”). The series from Warner Horizon Scripted Television added Michael Beach, Anne-Marie Johnson and Kellee Stewart in recurring roles. They join previously announced series regulars Xosha Roquemore, Alano Miller and legendary Emmy®-winning actress Cicely Tyson. The DuVernay led series recently announced it achieved full gender parity with a production crew of over 50% women, including 18 female department heads.

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the nation's premier member organization of independent storytellers, announced today the nominees for the 29th Annual IFP Gotham Awards. Ten competitive awards will be presented to independent features and series. In addition to the competitive awards, Gotham Tributes will be given to actors Laura Dern and Sam Rockwell, director Ava DuVernay, and the Gotham Industry Tribute to Glen Basner.

The Highwomen—the new collaborative movement formed by Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires—debut their new cover of Fleetwood Mac's “The Chain” today. The rendition is from the official motion picture soundtrack for the new movie, The Kitchen, which stars Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss and is out next Friday, August 9. CBS All Access, CBS' digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, today announced James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young and Henry Zaga have joined the cast of its original limited event series THE STAND, based on Stephen King's bestselling novel of the same name, and Stephen King will write the last chapter of the series, providing a new coda that won't be found in the book. The announcements were made by Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President of Original Content for CBS All Access, during the service's biannual Television Critics Association presentation.

Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu Bring Streaming Magic to Disney's D23 Expo

For the first time ever, three of Disney's signature streaming services, Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu, will showcase their variety of original and exclusive content through immersive show floor pavilions, live demos, never-before-seen content, and special experiences at D23 Expo 2019 in Anaheim, California. Guests will be the first to experience Disney+ before it launches in the U.S. on November 12. They will also get to step into the world of ESPN+ Original shows with an interactive exhibit, and discover costumes and show props from Hulu's award-winning original content and on-demand streaming library.

Hulu Renews HANDMAID'S TALE for a Fourth Season

Hulu's 11-time Emmy®-winning drama series The Handmaid's Tale has been picked up for a fourth season. The Handmaid's Tale is executive produced by Bruce Miller, Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, Ilene Chaiken, Eric Tuchman, John Weber, Sheila Hockin and Frank Siracusa. The series is produced by MGM Television. 

The Academy Invites 842 To Membership; 50% Are Women

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.
