Harris Elementary School and 20 preschool children from the ED/HHS Children's Center will listen to the guests read stories and will participate in fitness activities.

This year's event on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Arena Stage in Crystal City highlights Arena's temporary home in the Crystal City neighborhood of Arlington, VA, with co-chairs Angela Fox, President/CEO, Crystal City Business Improvement District and Mitchell N. Schear, President, Vornado/Charles E. Smith.
In Spring 2009, actress Alice Ripley will reprise her role as Diana in Next to Normal on Broadway, one of two productions Arena Stage is proud to have transferred to Broadway this spring. Due to this exciting development, Ripley will no longer be able to perform in Arena Stage's upcoming 17th Annual Benefit for Community Engagement, as was previously announced. Replacing Ripley in the role of Dorothy for the evening's entertainment will be Lindsay Czarniak, anchor and reporter for Washington's News4 Sports.

Arena Stage announces the 16th Annual Arena Stage Benefit for Community Engagement: Play On! The event will take place on April 14, 2008 and will showcase a unique blend of sports, politics and entertainment. Baltimore-based playwright James Magruder (Arena's Christmas Carol 1941 and Broadway's Triumph of Love) pens the evening's original comedy, written for and performed by a bipartisan cast of politicians, celebrities and athletes and directed by Arena's Producing Artistic Associate David Dower. The 16th Annual Arena Stage Benefit for Community Engagement is co-chaired by Sheila C. Johnson and The Honorable William T. Newman, Jr. The sit-down dinner will take place at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA at 6:00 p.m. and the Play On! performance at 8:30 p.m. at Arena Stage in Crystal City.
