Robinson, Jack Benny, Milton Berle, Henny Youngman, Eddie Cantor and countless other lesser-known actors, comedians, singers, playwrights, composers, musicians, writers, dancers and theatrical agents. Academy Award winner Shelley Winters kept the High Holy Days in the Actors Temple. as well as The Three Stooges, and Harpo Marx who attended services. Ed Sullivan, whose wife Sylvia Weinstein was Jewish, was also a member.

Focused on seventeen dancers auditioning for spots on the chorus of a Broadway show, A Chorus Line is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical. It also provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers.
In recent weeks the cast and creative team of the new musical Queen Mother, which chronicles the life of Hannah Hill, Charlie Chaplin's troubled mother, have been in residence on the Goodspeed Musicals campus in East Haddam, Conn. The team assembled to develop this engaging piece in preparation for upcoming invite-only industry workshops at New York Live Arts on Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1, 2014. The bold design features a new, four story set designed by Michael Raiford and over 400 costumes designed by Oklahoman Jeffrey Meek. The production runs June 24 through 28 at the Civic Center Music Hall, and is the first of Lyric's four summer shows.

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma today announced casting and production teams for its annual summer shows, featuring new and returning national talent, including Steve Blanchard, George Dvorsky, Dee Hoty, Victoria Huston-Elem, Meredith Inglesby, Amanda Lea LaVergne, Danny Rothman, Emily Skinner, Chuck Wagner, and more. All four productions- LES MISERABLES, DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID, MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT, and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC - will perform at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City.
Jacaranda's next concert, tonight, March 8 at 8:00 p.m., will be held at UCLA's Schoenberg Hall, which is waiving admission to honor Jacaranda's 10th anniversary. Jacaranda's inaugural season featured an adventurous young string quartet known as Denali, which played with the series until 2010. Denali was succeeded by Lyris as quartet in residence. This free 'Continental Harmony' concert will be entirely devoted to the Lyris Quartet, playing 20th-century American string quartet repertoire spanning 80 years. For the occasion, Lyris will open with their debut performance of the String Quartet No. 2 by Charles Ives (1911-13), followed by a Jacaranda signature work from 1973, String Quartet No. 4, 'Amazing Grace,' by Ben Johnston. String Quartet No. 5 by Philip Glass (1991), a Lyris specialty, will be followed with String Quartet No. 3 by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

North Carolina Theatre is taking on an iconic work of musical theater with their current staging of LES MISERABLES. Such a piece is quite a feat to put on, and to do it well is a great undertaking, but NC Theatre manages to accomplish something spectacular by combining the best talent of the Triangle with amazing New York actors. The result is a production which does justice to the cultural monolith which is Les Mis. It's a perfect production for die-hard fans and first-timers alike.
