Sara Farrington's LEISURE LUST Opens at Art House Productions

Written by 2-time Drama Desk nominee Sara Farrington, Leisure, Lust is inspired by two very divergent worlds: Edith Wharton's upper crust 1% and social reformer Jacob Riis's most impoverished underclass. Farrington tackles issues of gender, sex, love, mental illness, and class in a tangled knot of privilege, poverty, and the myth of the American dream.

Piqua Chautauqua Coming to Hance Pavilion This September

Last summer, a group form the Ohio Humanities Council visited Piqua to consider it as one of their Ohio Chautauqua sites for 2017.  Unfortunately, they were not selected, but they did encourage the group to develop their own Chautauqua event.  Well, give folks from Piqua a challenge and they deliver.  So a dedicated committee officially began working on Piqua Chautauqua! The dates for this event will be September 19, 20 & 21, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and will take place at Hance Pavilion, located in Fountain Park in Piqua.

Metropolitan Playhouse to Present Clyde Fitch's Sharp Satire THE CLIMBERS

THE CLIMBERS is a sharp satire from the Gilded Age of both vulgar competitors for wealth and status, as well as the censorious critics who resisted them.  In Fitch's incisive eye, the scramble to assert superiority is a curse for all sides in a play that is a welcome appraisal of a divided culture from a century past.  His vote for compassion and empathy is one that should count again.

BWW Interview: Roy Alan on Central Florida's first New Musical Festival

The first ever New Musical Festival comes to Orlando this week at Winter Park Playhouse. If you've ever wondered where musicals are born, this is how. With the help of arts organizations like Winter Park Playhouse, musical creators can refine their pieces and use it as a stepping stone towards publication. Orlando is quite the creative place and having a new musical festival fits right in. I took a moment to chat with Roy Alan, who serves as the Artistic Director for Winter Park Playhouse about the festival.
