Margaret Thatcher Projects will present NEW YEAR 2013, a selection of new works by many of the gallery artists, including Frank Badur, William Betts, Freddy Chandra, Kevin Finklea, Jus Juchtmans, Tad Mike, Maria Park, Robert Sagerman, Heidi Spector and William Steiger. NEW YEAR 2013 will be on view from today, January 17 to February 9, 2013. Reception: today, January 17, 6-8 pm.

The Columbus First Free Will Baptist Church is gearing up to become a stop on the Short North's monthly Gallery Hop event. Located at 49 East Third Avenue, just one block east of High Street, the church will host a visual artist and musical artist for Gallery Hop each month beginning April 6.

The UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts has announced that Sara Krajewski, director of the Institute of Visual Arts (Inova), has been awarded one of only two curatorial fellowships from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, which recently awarded grants to 42 organizations in 20 states totaling more than $3.6 million.

According to Deadline, E! has put into a development a new scripted drama entitled GALLERINA, by director and producer Mark Waters (MEAN GIRLS.) The script for the upcoming art gallery series was penned by Michelle McGrath.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, New York City cultural organizations have provided crucial support for communities in need and continue to offer services and programs to aid and inspire New Yorkers. Artists and arts groups have presented free or discount exhibitions and performances, opened their spaces for people to warm up and charge electronics, developed benefit events, and supported their fellow cultural organizations whose collections and facilities were damaged by the storm. These remarkable relief efforts are helping neighborhoods and New Yorkers in all five boroughs.

On Veterans Day (Today, November 11) and the following day (Monday, November 12), active and retired members of any branch of the U.S. armed forces will be admitted free of charge, along with one guest each, to The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Cloisters museum and gardens upon presentation of their military identification. November 12 is a Met Holiday Monday, when the Metropolitan's main building and The Cloisters-which have historically been closed on Mondays-will both be open to the public. Regular admission policies will apply to all other visitors.
