Theatre By The Sea finished out an exceptional season with a heart-warming, hilarious and perfectly executed SISTER ACT. Get ready to rejoice! SISTER ACT, the gloriously funny five-time Tony-nominated musical, is taking the stage at Bill Hanney's award winning Theatre By The Sea (TBTS). SISTER ACT will begin Wednesday, August 17, and plays thru Sunday, September 4, 2016. Press night is scheduled for Friday, August 19 at 8p.m.

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, Rob Ashford just directed a private industry reading of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with an all-star cast, including Broadway favorite Kristen Chenoweth. Now according to her recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the show might go on to have a life on Broadway. She explains: 'I think there is financing in place and I think it has to be a decision we can make and I have another show that I'm involved with about Tammy Faye Bakker. It's all about timing.'

Signature Theatre's world premiere production of Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose, directed by Eric Schaeffer and written by Ed Dixon, is a powerful and passionate production that isn't the typical story of a mentor and mentee.

 In a special limited engagement, Signature Theatre presents the world premiere production ofGeorgie: My Adventures with George Rose written and performed by Broadway veteran Ed Dixon (Broadway's Anything Goes, Signature's Sunset Boulevard). Directed by Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Gigi, Follies, and Million Dollar Quartet), this one-man play chronicles Dixon's relationship with his friend and mentor, the Tony-award winning character actor George Rose (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, My Fair Lady, Pirates of Penzance). Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose will play in Signature's ARK Theatre from January 8 - February 7, 2016. BroadwayWorld has just learned that Broadway's Matt Scott, who was last seen by Goodspeed audiences in the 2013 production of SNAPSHOTS at The Norma Terris Theatre, will assume the role of 'Sam Wainwright' for the remainder of the run of A WONDERFUL LIFE at Goodspeed Opera House through December 6th.

It's a tricky thing when a popular film is adapted for the musical stage. Sometimes it works and sometimes it simply falls flat. For A WONDERFUL LIFE, presented by Goodspeed Musicals, it falls somewhere in-between. To be fair, It's A Wonderful Life is not just a "popular film", it's practically an American institution, so the audience for A WONDERFUL LIFE, the musical adaptation by Sheldon Harnick (Book and Lyrics) and Joe Raposo (Music) most likely come to the show with a very clear expectation of what they will see.
