Photo Flash: Art Wynwood Wraps 2nd Edition; Announces Record Attendance

The second edition of Art Wynwood, the Wynwood Art District's highly anticipated international contemporary art fair hosted by Art Miami LLC, closed its doors Monday, Feb. 18, following sales by more than 90 percent of participating galleries and more than 27,500 visitors - an increase of more than 4,000 from last year's inaugural fair. Once again the five-day fair was held during President's Day Weekend coinciding with the Yacht & Brokerage Show. Art Wynwood VIP Opening Draws Record-Breaking Attendance

Art Wynwood, Miami's international contemporary art fair during President's Day Weekend brought a crowd of 6,200 into the Wynwood Arts District - 1,100 more guests than last year. The VIP Preview honored the late Tony Goldman, a major force in the development of the Wynwood Arts District and the inaugural edition of Art Wynwood. An intimate gathering including Art Wynwood director Nick Korniloff and members of the Goldman family participated in a dove-releasing ceremony in Goldman's honor just before teems of prominent art collectors, designers, curators and art enthusiasts from around the world lined up outside the Art Miami Pavilion to get the first look and acquire new contemporary works.

4th Annual Independent Voices Festival Set for 1/5-20

The Centre Theater presents its annual spotlight on regionally recognized work and new theatre, The Independent Voices Festival. In it is 4th year, the festival spotlights performers who deserve an encore performance or who have new work to bring to the stage. The three festival highlights fur premieres and performances from four regionally recognized solo performance artists.

MANA Moves to Philly's Off Broad Street Theater, Now thru 12/2

Thousands of miles of the Pacific have helped keep the secrets of Easter Island from the world. "Mana" ran through November 25 at the Centre Theater, Norristown's professional theater at 208 DeKalb St. in downtown Norristown. The production moves to Philadelphia for 4 performances at the Off Broad Street Theater, 1720 Sansom Street. Showtimes in Philadelphia are tonight, November 29 through Saturday December 1 at 8 p.m. and Sunday December 2 at 2 p.m.

BARRYMORE, Starring Christopher Plummer, Hits Theaters November 15

2012 Academy Award winner Christopher Plummer recreates his Tony Award winning role in the film adaptation of BARRYMORE, directed & adapted by Érik Canuel, which will be theatrically released jointly by BY Experience and Image Entertainment beginning Thursday, November 15 in New York and Los Angeles. BARRYMORE is based on the play by William Luce.

New York Theatre Workshop's RED DOG HOWLS Begins Performances, Sept 4 - Starring Kathleen Chalfant

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Red Dog Howls, written by Alexander Dinelaris and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, begins performances tonight at 7pm at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, September 24 at 7pm. Award-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America, Wit) returns to New York Theatre Workshop in a landmark role, joining Florencia Lozano and Alfredo Narciso in the cast of this New York premiere.
