SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS Tour to Take The Broad Stage This Winter

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica and Eva Price present Small Mouth Sounds by Drama Desk Award winner Bess Wohl (Pretty Filthy), and directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) for three weeks only, January 11 through 28 with a press opening on January 12.

Philadelphia Asian Performing Artists (PAPA) solidify their presence in the city with their first full production, Tiger Style! By Mike Lew. Travelling from California to China this raucous comedy examines the successes and failures of 'tiger parenting' from the point of view of a playwright who's actually been through it.This hilarious and fast-paced story of the struggle of two siblings to deal with their upbringing, heritage, and loaded preconceptions was described by ArtsATL as 'a spirited, fast-paced, colorful, funny and entertaining romp that's as energetic as it is easy to like.'

Leah Nanako Winkler Named 2017-19 Jerome New York Fellow At The Lark

The Lark announces that Leah Nanako Winkler, author of Kentucky, Two Mile Hollow, and Death for Sydney Black, will be the 2017-19 recipient of the Jerome New York Fellowship. The fellowship, designed to support an early career writer of extraordinary ability, promise, and vision, provides stipends of $25,000 in the first year and $15,000 in the second, in addition to an Opportunity Fund of $5,000 to be used for purposes of additional creative expenses such as travel, research, and workshops. The fellowship is designed to be a life-sustaining platform of support, allowing the fellow to focus on their craft, and to generate and develop a significant body of work.

Cast, Creative Team Complete for AN ORDINARY MUSLIM at New York Theatre Workshop

New York Theatre Workshop has announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of AN ORDINARY MUSLIM, by NYTW Usual Suspect and 2017-18 Tow Foundation Playwright-in-Residence Hammaad Chaudry (Salaam, Mr. Bush), directed by NYTW Usual Suspect and Obie Award winner Jo Bonney (The Body of An American).

East West Players Welcomes New Board Members

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theater of color and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, is pleased to announce the appointment of five new members to the Board of Directors: Jason M. Blackwell, Reggie Lee, Rose Chan Loui, Sally Pai Unruh, and Jeff Yang. The new appointments hail from diverse backgrounds in finance, media, television, film, and philanthropy, and arrive at a significant time for the organization as EWP embarks on the biggest season in its 52-year history, which includes the Los Angeles premiere of the Broadway musical Allegiance, in partnership with Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC).

San Diego Repertory Theatre presents VIETGONE

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) has announced details for the fifth production of its 42nd season, Vietgone, which will be making its San Diego premiere after a successful Off-Broadway run. A love story like no other from playwright Qui Nguyen ( She Kills Monsters ), Vietgone, will feature innovative artists new to the San Diego REP, including director Jesca Prudencio (Ping Chong + Company) and starring Ben Levin ( Allegiant and Ugly Betty ) and Katherine Ko ( Hollywood and Angels in America ). This moving comedy begins on Thursday, January 25, 2018 and plays through Sunday, February 18, 2018 with an opening night on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Lyceum Space Theatre at San Diego REP in Horton Plaza.

Cornerstone Theater Company to Present MAGIC FRUIT This Fall

Cornerstone Theater Company will present Magic Fruit, the culminating Bridge Show of the Hunger Cycle at The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles on select dates November 18 - December 10, 2017. Magic Fruit will unite the previous eight communities of this Cycle of plays for a ninth and final production.
