Kicking off its 26th Season, Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of Marguerite Duras' The North China Lover, adapted and directed by Ensemble Member Heidi Stillman. The North China Lover runs tonight, September 25 - October 4, 2013 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The Press Opening is Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

Theatre of Note's SHEET CAKE SLIDING World Premiere Begins Tonight

Theatre of NOTE presents the world premiere of SHEET CAKE SLIDING, written by Stacia Saint Owens and directed by Nicholas Newell. SHEET CAKE SLIDING, in which a nuclear family goes BOOM!, will preview tonight, September 13 and Saturday, September 14, and will open on Friday, September 20 at 8pm and run through Saturday, October 19 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.

STEEL MAGNOLIAS, A NICE INDIAN BOY and More Set for East West Players' 48th Anniversary Season

East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theater of color in the country, announces its 48th Anniversary Season, Making Light. The season includes the classic 'Steel Magnolias' by Robert Harling, the world premiere of 'The Nisei Widows Club: How Tomi Got Her Groove Back' by Betty Tokudani, the world premiere of 'A Nice Indian Boy' by Madhuri Shekar, and the musical 'Beijing Spring,' lyrics by Tim Dang and music by Joel Iwataki. The third installation of the EVOKE New Works Festival will focus on Southeast Asian emerging artists.

Producing Artistic Director Tim Dang Celebrates 20 Years with East West Players Today

Today, August 17th, East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theatre of color in the country, will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Tim Dang as Producing Artistic Director. This signature 'one night only' event takes place at East West Players, featuring some of the best talent to grace the EWP stage, along with dinner al fresco in the Aratani Courtyard, just outside the theater. Proceeds of One Night Only benefit the artistic/educational programs of East West Players and the organization's endowment.

The Colony Theatre Presents BREATH AND IMAGINATION: THE STORY OF ROLAND HAYES, 9/14-10/13

The Colony Theatre is thrilled to present the West Coast Premiere of BREATH AND IMAGINATION: The Story of Roland Hayes, a true story by Daniel Beaty, directed by Saundra McClain, with Musical Direction by Rahn Coleman. BREATH AND IMAGINATION will preview on Wednesday, September 11; Thursday, September 12; and Friday, September 13 at 8:00pm and will open on Saturday, September 14 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, October 13.

Time Warner Foundation Grant Supports South Coast Rep's New Play Commissioning Project

Thanks to a generous grant from the Time Warner Foundation, South Coast Repertory is launching its new CrossRoads Commissioning Project-a community-based initiative within the theatre's renowned new work program. As part of the project, SCR has commissioned eight playwrights, locally and nationally, to create new work inspired by residencies that explore the incredible diversity of Orange County.

San Diego REPertory Theatre (San Diego REP) in partnership with the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) will present "In the Heights" by Quiara Alegria Hudes as the first production of the company's 38th season. The Tony and Grammy Award-winning production was conceived by and with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the San Diego REP production is directed by Sam Woodhouse and starring Jai Rodriguez.
