On this day in 2011, the Broadway production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, finally celebrated its opening night, following the longest preview period in Broadway history.

Thirty-two Broadway performers have been announced for Vanguard Theater Company's Third Annual Broadway Buddy Mentorship Program and Cabaret.

Broadway is coming to the South Orange Performing Arts center this May! On Monday night, May 1,2017, 25 Broadway artists will light up the SOPAC stage, as they perform with aspiring Broadway artists in Vanguard Theater Company's second annual BROADWAY BUDDY Mentorship Cabaret.

Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) continues its 2016-17 staged reading series, Theater at The Woodland, with a presentation of TORN ASUNDER, written by Obie Award-winner Nikkole Salter and directed by Janeece Freeman Clark. This staged reading will be performed for one night only on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 7pm at The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd. Maplewood, NJ), where MDR is the resident theater company. The reading is $15 (advance purchase), $20 (if purchased at the door) and open to the public. Student/Senior discounts are also available. Beginning performances tonight, November 15, Nathaniel Stampley will assume the role of Mister in John Doyle's Tony Award-winning production of the Broadway musical, The Color Purple.

A Portrait of Ray (Charles) is making its Newark debut on November 13th at Newark Symphony Hall and will be showing for a second nigh November 14th at Symphony Space in New York City for a one-night only performance.

The Tony Award-winning revival of THE COLOR PURPLE will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Upon closing, the production will have played 449 regular and 33 preview performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W 45th Street). A North American tour of the production will launch in the fall of 2017.

Beginning performances Tuesday, November 15, Nathaniel Stampley will assume the role of Mister in John Doyle's Tony Award-winning production of the Broadway musical, THE COLOR PURPLE. Isaiah Johnson, who originated the role, will give his final performance on Sunday, November 13.

Trent Armand Kendall (host of TRENT ARMAND KENDALL Broadway Download, City World Radio) is host and producer of an outdoor, summer concert series at Pier Village, Long Branch, NJ. Pier Village is the most popular destinations on the Jersey Shore with retail, restaurants, international food trucks, residences and varied, exciting summer programming.
