SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS Tour to Take The Broad Stage This Winter

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica and Eva Price present Small Mouth Sounds by Drama Desk Award winner Bess Wohl (Pretty Filthy), and directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) for three weeks only, January 11 through 28 with a press opening on January 12.

Virginia Stage Company to Continue 39th Season with 'THE PARCHMAN HOUR'

Virginia Stage Company continues its 39th Season with The Parchman Hour: Songs and Stories of the '61 Freedom Riders. Co-produced with Norfolk State University Theatre Company, The Parchman Hour journeys through the Deep South with the pioneers who fought discrimination and paved the way for the future. Written and directed by Mike Wiley, this play is adapted from real life accounts of the 1961 Freedom Rides and shares these struggles through music that ranges from spirituals to Bob Dylan.

Photo Flash: Magic Theatre presents THE EVA TRILOGY

Magic Theatre (Loretta Greco, Artistic Director and Jaimie Mayer, Managing Director) announced today the complete cast of Barbara Hammond's World Premiere The Eva Trilogy. Previews begin on Thursday, October 19 at Magic Theatre's Fort Mason location, with a press opening on Saturday, October 28. The production is helmed by Magic's Artistic Director Loretta Greco. Tickets are on-sale now, and subscriptions to Magic Theatre's 2017-2018 Season are also available.

Cast Complete for Fiasco's TWELFTH NIGHT at Classic Stage Company

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Doyle and Executive Producer Jeff Griffin, will present Fiasco Theater's TWELFTH NIGHT, by William Shakespeare, beginning performances Wednesday, November 29 at CSC (136 East 13th Street) for a limited engagement through Saturday, January 6. The official press opening is Thursday, December 14.

Other Theatre's THE MAKING OF A MODERN FOLK HERO to Premiere at Chicago Dramatists

Other Theatre, in association with Chicago Dramatists' Grafting Project, will launch its 4th season with the world premiere of Martin Zimmerman's comedic graphic novel for the stage THE MAKING OF A MODERN FOLK HERO, directed by Kelly Howe, playing September 29 - October 29, 2017 at Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Ave. in Chicago. Casting will be announced shortly.

MoBBallet presents AND STILL THEY ROSE

Memoirs of Blacks in Ballet (MoBBallet), a groundbreaking legacy project documenting and transforming conversations around black ballet artists, heralds the completion of its inaugural video installation And Still They Rose: The Legacy of Black Philadelphians in Ballet. Highlighting Joan Myers Brown, Delores Brown and Judith Jamison, three Black Philadelphian dancers who were classically trained, the video installation will be released on MoBBallet's website October 22, 2017. A corresponding panel discussion, moderated by MoBBallet's founder Theresa Ruth Howard, and featuring Joan Myers Brown and Delores Brown, will take place at Philadelphia's The Painted Bride Arts Center on October 28. The installation and panel will bring to proper light the history of Black Philadelphians in classical ballet through a recounting of their dance training and careers.

Caborca's Adaptation of Roberto Bolano's DISTANT STAR Premieres Tonight at Abrons Arts Center

Abrons Arts Center will present the world premiere of Caborca's adaptation of Roberto Bola o's ground-breaking novel Distant Star, a harrowing tale of fascism and its aftermath. Running September 14 - October 1, this eerily relevant drama weaves Bola o's memories of life (and death) under Pinochet's American-backed dictatorship into a perverse, seductive noir of urgent political necessity.
