DOWN FOR #THECOUNT to Showcase Female Voices at TeCo Theatrical

TeCo Theatrical Productions, Inc. is excited to announce its 2nd Annual Production of Down For #TheCount, a one-act play festival that gives a platform to female voices. Production dates are February 16 through 26, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. nightly for two consecutive weekends with a preview night today, February 16th at the Bishop Arts Theatre Center.

2017 FRIGID Festival Presents THE REFUGEE PLAYS Starting Tonight

The 2017 FRIGID Festival presents The Refugee Plays, five short plays by Charles Gershman, Penny Jackson, Callie Kimball, Carlos Castro, and Sean E. Cunningham that tell powerful stories of refugees today. Dan Dinero, Logan Reed, and Rachel Dart direct. Performances will be staged at The Kraine Theater, located at 85 E. 4th St. between 2nd Ave Bowery in NYC for five performances from tonight, February 16, through March 5, 2017.

T. Schreiber Theatre Presents 4th Annual Schreiber Shorts 10-Minute Play Festival

T. Schreiber Theatre (TST) proudly presents 'The Fourth Annual Schreiber Shorts: An Evening of One Acts' January 25th and runs through February 11th. The 10-minute play series will feature works by 10 playwrights, selected from nearly 1000 submissions in a nationwide playwriting competition. Curated and produced by Halle Morse and Megan Grace, 'The Schreiber Shorts' marks the second production of TST' 2016-17 season. BWW Interview: John Perovich on NEW WORKS at Metropolitan Arts Institute And Brelby

We're excited for the New Works Festival! The plays were written by Metro students, predominately from my beginning and advanced theatre classes. Once completed, the plays were read by a group of 9 readers. The readers consisted of one of my advanced theatre students and a group of artists from Brelby (including Brian and Shelby). The plays were selected, began rehearsing in January, and will premiere at Metropolitan Arts Institute at the end of the month.

Rubicon Theatre Company celebrates Black History Month with THE DEVIL'S MUSIC: THE LIFE AND BLUES OF BESSIE SMITH, starring singer and actress Miche Braden of the original Off-Broadway production (named one of the 10 Best Off-Broadway productions of the year by the N.Y. Daily Times). Described by CBC as a, "bawdy, bluesy, boozy rollicking night out at the theatre," the show follows the life, loves and career of blues and jazz singer Bessie Smith, called the "Empress of the Blues."
