Central City Opera's 2017 Summer Festival, which runs from July 8 to August 6, 2017, features Bizet's Carmen and Mozart's Così fan tutte in repertory, along with Benjamin Britten's The Burning Fiery Furnace, Douglas Moore's Gallantry, and Amy Beach's Cabildo in shorter runs. Celebrating the company's 85th season, the festival's productions offer a diverse and broad gamut of styles and time periods.

Florida Grand Opera (FGO) is pleased to announce the members of its 2015-16 class for its Young Artist Program. These artists, consisting of both new and returning members, were selected from more than 600 singers who auditioned for the coveted program.
Brevard Music Center Opens 2015 Season with Pianist Andre Watts in All-Beethoven Program, 6/20

The Brevard Music Center (BMC) will open its 2015 season on Saturday, June 20, with superstar pianist André Watts and BMC Principal Guest Conductor JoAnn Falletta in an all-Beethoven program. Watts burst upon the music world at the age of 16 when Leonard Bernstein chose him to make his debut with the New York Philharmonic. He has since enjoyed a celebrated 50 year career that has taken him across the globe to concertize with major orchestras and perform in the world's musical capitals. Watts has played before European royalty and international heads of government and has received the Avery Fisher Prize, the National Medal of Arts, and was the youngest person ever to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Yale University. André Watts will perform Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto with Maestra Falletta and the Brevard Music Center Orchestra on a program to include Leonore Overture No. 3 and the Seventh Symphony. The season concludes on Sunday, August 2, as Maestro Lockhart and the BMCO perform Mahler's powerful Symphony No. 1 – “The Titan.”
Ernest Bloch's MACBETH to be Performed at Manhattan School of Music

The Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater will be presenting Ernest Bloch's Macbeth on Wednesday, December 10 and Friday, December 12 at 7:30 pm.; and on Sunday, December 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the School's Borden Auditorium. Bloch's only opera, composed when the composer was in his early 20's, is set to a libretto by the composer's friend, the poet Edmond Fleg, after Shakespeare's play.

It's time for the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis and the Smith family couldn't be more excited. Journey back in time with the Yardley Players as they present 'Meet Me in St. Louis' at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC) Kelsey Theatre. Dates and show times for this charming musical are Fridays, tonight, July 18 and July 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, July 19 and 26 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, July 20 and 27 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Placido Domingo to Headline 70 YEARS OF THE PEOPLE'S OPERA, 2/21 at New York City Center

According to The New York Times, opera star Placido Domingo will join veterans of the now defunct New York City Opera for a 70th anniversary benefit concert, “70 Years of the People's Opera”, on February 21 at the City Center. Domingo made his debut with the City Opera as 'Pinkerton' in Puccini's MADAMA BUTTERFLY in 1965.
Composers & the Voice Program Will Return for American Opera Projects' 2013-14 Season

American Opera Projects (AOP) announces the return of its popular Composers & the Voice program for its 2013-14 season. Created and led by Composers & the Voice Artistic Director Steven Osgood, six composers or composer/librettist teams will be selected for a year-long fellowship, working with the company's Reside nt Ensemble of Singers and Artistic Team. Applications and additional information can be found at AOP's website www.operaprojects.org/composers_voice. The deadline for applications is May 17, 2013. All sessions will be at AOP's home base in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
