On May 14th 2012 Independent label SimG Records is to release the Original Cast Recording of A SONG CYCLE FOR SOHO, a writing project created for Mercury Musical Development members to practise the craft of songwriting, and have a showcase presented at London's Soho Theatre.
Irvine Welsh's classic novel Trainspotting, which in 1996 was adapted as both a feature film by Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle and a play by Harry Gibson, will come to the Chicago stage in October in a new American adaptation of Gibson's play. This new version of Welsh's graphic and uncompromising story of young heroin addicts living in Edinburgh, Scotland has been re-imagined and set in Kansas City, Missouri.
Festival Of Chaos opens with two world premieres of two classic plays, both up-dated and re-imagined and directed by Royal & Derngate's Artistic Director, Laurie Sansom. Staged in the striking setting of a disused print works in the town centre, The Bacchae runs from Friday 18 May to Saturday 30 June and Blood Wedding takes to the Royal stage from Friday 25 May to Saturday 30 June. Festival of Chaos is part of the London 2012 Festival.
