Skylight Music Theatre announced the cast and creative team for Five Guys Named Moe, a joyful, jazzy tribute to Louis Jordan, the 1940s rhythm and blues singer, songwriter and bandleader.
Out-of-the-box creativity, fantastic agility, flexibility and control describes the Jacob Jonas Dance Company. From the first few movements in their first piece of the evening, it was clear this was going to be a visual treat. There were five different dance pieces presented; all World Premieres. Three choreographed by Jacob Jonas, with two other diverse choreographers contributing to the concert; Donald Byrd and Omar Roman De Jesus. Each piece had a different theme and flavor.

An American icon comes home. During the early years of his career, American composer, conductor and arranger Henry Mancini and his family lived not far from where California State University, Northridge campus now stands. On Saturday, October 13 at 8pm, Mancini's music comes home to Northridge as The Soraya presents Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini. Starring Monica Mancini with special guest three-time Tony nominated Joshua Henry, Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini features Gregg Field as Music Director and Chris Walden conducting the New West Symphony.
Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the independent, not-for-profit affiliate of SDC, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced unique plans for its 2019 award evening, which will feature original choreographic pieces resulting from a special commissioning program, with the application period now open. SDCF also announced that Victoria Traube would receive a special 'Mr. Abbott' Award at the event, to be held March 25 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF).

Jacob Jonas The Company, currently celebrating its fifth season, returns to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts as 2018/2019 Company-In-Residence with an intimate studio show comprised entirely of world premiere works from Wednesday, October 24 through Saturday, October 27, 2018, 8 pm, in the Lovelace Studio Theater. For the first time in The Company's history, it has commissioned works by guest choreographers, with the show featuring the world premieres of 'Unknown Territories' by Donald Byrd, Bessie award-winner and Tony-nominated choreographer who is company founder Jacob Jonas' mentor; 'Cupido' by Latino choreographer Omar Roman de Jesus; 'Transfer' and 'Make A Toast' by Jonas; and 'Crash,' also by Jonas with original composition and live music by Okaidja Afroso, a noted Afro-pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Ghana, West Africa. William Wade, composer, lyricist, orchestrator, musical director, arranger and pianist, passed away following a short battle with colon cancer on February 26, 2018 at the age of 54. Wade is perhaps best known for writing the score for John Tartaglia's Imaginocean, which had an eighteen month run off-Broadway at New World Stages and an extensive international tour.
