Overture Seeks Musical Theater Teaching Artists For DMIS

Overture Center for the Arts is seeking experienced musical theater choreographers, directors, musical directors, actors, producers and theater education staff to train as teaching artists for Disney Musicals in Schools.  The program, currently running at nine Madison Metropolitan School District elementary schools is designed to create sustainable theater programs in elementary schools for students in grades three-five. Through the program, participating schools produce a Disney KIDS musical in their school community and join in a culminating performance at Overture.

Music Theatre International Australasia Expands Junior Theater Celebrations In Australia And New Zealand

Music Theatre International Australasia, in partnership with AMICI Trust in New Zealand and producers Shane Bransdon and Daniel Stoddart, founders of OzTheatrics in Australia, and in collaboration with iTheatrics from the United States, will present the third annual Junior Theatre Celebration Australia in Newcastle, Australia on Friday 26th & Saturday 27th October and the second Junior Theatre Celebration New Zealand in Auckland, New Zealand on Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd November 2018.

Lyric Theatre Receives Grant From Disney To Fund School Program

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma has been awarded a $120,000 grant from Disney to bring the Disney Musicals in Schools program to Oklahoma City Public Schools.  The program is a free initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools.  The grant funds two years of programming; Lyric Theatre will select five area public elementary schools to participate in 2018-19 and another five will be selected for next year.

Kravis Center Announces Four New Schools For Disney Musicals In Schools Program

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to announce the four Palm Beach County public elementary schools that have been selected to participate in its 2018-2019 Disney Musicals in Schools program. The program is an outreach initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. The four schools selected are Academy for Positive Learning in Lake Worth, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary in Riviera Beach, Meadow Park Elementary in West Palm Beach and Lincoln Elementary in Riviera Beach.

AN ACT OF GOD, 42nd STREET, And More Set For Bucks County Playhouse 2018 Season Opening Tonight

A classic tap-happy musical and a new production of a legendary Broadway comedy are highlights of Bucks County Playhouse's 2018 Season. Executive Producer Robyn Goodman, Producing Director Alexander Fraser and Producers Stephen Kocis and Josh Fiedler announced details of the season, which will kick off at the historic Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania on May 19.

Bucks County Playhouse Opens Season With AN ACT OF GOD

In an era where seemingly everything from "Roseanne" to "Will and Grace" has received a reboot, God also has decided to take a fresh look at one of his greatest cultural achievements, The Ten Commandments, in the hilarious Broadway comedy, "An Act of God." Directed by Tracy Brigden, the comedy runs at Bucks County Playhouse May 18 - June 16. The official opening night performance is Saturday, May 19 at 7:30 pm. The 2018 Bucks County Playhouse Season is sponsored by Bank of America.

'Not So Silent Cinema' Presents Charlie Chaplin Shorts At Bucks County Playhouse

The comic genius of Charlie Chaplin will be on full display as Philadelphia-based "Not So Silent Cinema" provides live accompaniment to three Chaplin shorts in a special one-performance only event at Bucks County Playhouse, Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m. The presentation is part of the Playhouse's Visiting Artist Series.

Photo Flash: Bucks County Playhouse Honors RISE Inspiration Lou Volpe

Lou Volpe, the retired theatre education pioneer was recently inducted into the prestigious Bucks County Playhouse Hall of Fame, following such honorees as Angela Lansbury, Oscar Hammerstein and Shirley Jones. A formal ceremony was held on April 14 at the historic playhouse. Volpe, whose career is the inspiration behind "Rise," the new TV series on NBC, was heralded for his life's work as a high school drama teacher at Harry S. Truman High School in Levittown, PA. During his tenure there, he transformed this Bucks County community with the magic of theater.

Laura Osnes and the BROADWAY PRINCESS PARTY to Bring Magic to Buck's County Playhouse

In a season where Disney's "Frozen" is heating up the box office on Broadway and an American commoner is preparing to marry an English prince, one of Broadway's most charming princesses, two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes ("Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella" on Broadway) is bringing her own Princess Party to Bucks County Playhouse. The concert is being presented in New Hope as part of the Bucks County Playhouse Visiting Artist Series.
