As the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County enters its fifth year serving South Florida, its leaders are rolling out a special 5th Anniversary Season that will celebrate the institution's success as a presenter of world-class programs that reflect Miami's diverse population, an economic engine in the City's thriving urban core, and as a model public/private partnership that has made critical investments in important community-based initiatives. The Mexican Suitcase, a groundbreaking exhibition revealing the most famous group of recovered negatives of the twentieth century, will be on view at the International Center of Photography (1133 Avenue of the Americas at 43rd Street) from September 24, 2010 through January 9, 2011. Considered lost since 1939, the so-called Mexican Suitcase is in fact three boxes containing 4,500 negatives documenting the Spanish Civil War by Robert Capa, Chim (David Seymour), and Gerda Taro. There are also several rolls of portraits of Capa and Taro by Fred Stein. Besides offering new images by these major photographers that provide a comprehensive overview of the war, the cache of negatives also includes previously unknown portraits of Ernest Hemingway, Federico Garcia Lorca, and Dolores Ibarruri (known as 'La Pasionaria').

On July 17th, Al Tapper's musical Sessions makes international history, becoming the first Off Broadway production ever to play in Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city. The show, which will be performed in Spanish, will run throughout July and August.

Miami City Ballet's (MCB) milestone 25th Anniversary Season - perhaps the most exciting since its very first season - will feature a major Company Premiere in each of its four Programs - including Romeo and Juliet. Plus the return of the Opus One Orchestra at each of its Program I-IV performances. The 2010-2011 season in South Florida begins on October 15, 2010 and runs through May 1, 2011.
