The Chicago Jazz Orchestra (CJO) under the direction of Artistic Director, Jeff Lindberg, is excited and honored to have been chosen to perform at the 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors Gala on December 7, 2014 in Washington, D.C. This performance will mark the 26th consecutive year that the CJO has been chosen for this singular honor.

To celebrate the strength and vitality of the Brazilian film industry, Museum of the Moving Image will present a new ongoing series, O Brazil: Contemprary Brazilian Cinema. Featuring works by established directors and emerging filmmakers, this showcase will present a bird's eye view of a thriving film scene. The first installment, from November 22 through December 20, 2014, will include three films: My Mother Is a Character (Minha mãe é uma peça), starring the popular theater and TV comedian Paulo Gustavo in Brazil's biggest box-office hit of 2013; Casa Grande, Fellipe Barbosa 's coming-of-age drama that has been a hit at several international film festivals; and The Music According to Antonio Carlos Jobim (A música segundo Tom Jobim), a musical tribute to the artist who popularized bossa nova, by Cinema Novo pioneer Nelson Pereira dos Santos.

BRIAN SETZER Donates Gretsch Guitar to Smithsonian

Grammy Award-winning musician Brian Setzer donated his signature orange Gretsch guitar to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History during a ceremony Oct. 17. The replica guitar is evocative of Setzer's original 1959 Gretsch 6120 'Stray Cat' guitar, for which he raided his Monopoly game for two dice drilled holes in them and attached them to take the place of the missing tone knobs.

A spectacular trumpeter with a very wide range, a beautiful tone, and the ability to blend together many influences into his own style, Byron is an extroverted performer who brings the audience into his music. The happiness that he exudes through his trumpet, his vocals and his words is reminiscent of Louis Armstrong, yet very much his own.
