Tonys Committee to Review Decision to Erase Sound Design Awards

Broadway sound designers and others just submitted a petition with 32,495 signatures asking the Tonys committee to reverse its decision to eliminate the sound design category. Now, The New York Times reports that the administration committee, though it is sticking to its 'carefully studied decision' for the current 2014-15 season, has asked the rules committee to review the petition.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Tony®, Emmy®, and two-time Golden Globe® Award Nominee Matthew Morrison will return to Broadway to star in Finding Neverland as J.M. Barrie. Morrison created the role of Barrie in early workshops of the Broadway-bound musical. Finding Neverland will begin previews on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street), and will now open on Wednesday, April 15. Tony Winner Priscilla Lopez Will Return to Broadway's PIPPIN Tonight

Tony Award winner Priscilla Lopez, who appeared in the legendary original cast of A Chorus Line and was also a replacement for the role of "Fastrada" in the original production of Pippin in 1973, will re-join the all-new Tony Award winning production of Pippin in the role of "Berthe" beginning tonight, Tuesday, November 11. Lucie Arnaz played her final performance in the role on Sunday, November 9 and has rejoined the US national tour. Pippin is now playing through Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).
