Cleveland Play House (CPH) is proud to announce the inspiring works for the 13th Annual New Ground Theatre Festival (NGTF). The New Ground Theatre Festival provides the opportunity for playwrights to develop and showcase their work, while offering Cleveland audiences the opportunity to see these remarkable new plays come to life. The NEA grant is to support their "Heritage" series, a series of three plays by or about artists of color exploring the history, mythology, and cultural inheritance of people of different races and cultural backgrounds. The three part series includes River City by Diana Grisanti, Dontrell, Who Kissed the Sea by Nathan Alan Davis, and a new play with music based on Mexican folk tales, to be developed by the Phoenix and presented in English and Spanish in November of 2015. All of the plays in the series are World Premiere productions, the first two being National New Play Network Rolling World Premieres, and the third being commissioned by the Phoenix Theatre.

Lark Play Development Center has announced that seven plays have been chosen for its 21st Annual Playwrights' Week, which will take place September 22nd - 27th. This year's plays and playwrights are Parachute Men by Mando Alvarado, Lucky Ladies by Dominic Finocchiaro, INC. by Diana Grisanti, No More Sad Things by Hansol Jung, Girl of Glass by Jennifer A. Kokai, Chalk by Walt McGough, and The Tiger Among Us by Lauren Yee.

The local group opens its fourth season Friday with a work that juxtaposes love's timeless ideals with contemporary realities in Mat Smart's 'The 13th of Paris,' which opened last Friday in the Martin Experimental Theater at The Kentucky Center for the Arts.
