Mildred's Umbrella Theatre Company has selected nineteen new short plays from over 100 entries by emerging and established writers nationwide to present in this year's Museum of Dysfunction short play festival, which will be held June 29-July 1 and July 6-8, 2017. Each play was read blind (with no authorial identification) by a panel of professional writers and the highest scores were chosen and approved by the artistic staff of Mildred's Umbrella.

For the third straight year, Rover Dramawerks is pleased to partner with the playwrights' group 365 Women a Year to present a festival of plays about women, for everyone.

2Cents Theatre Group's popular 3-day festival of female playwrights is back for year four! While women make up 51% of the world's population, the fact still stands that only 17% of plays produced in this country are female authored. Rhode Island-based Festival51 aims to change those numbers by putting women writers center stage in their 2nd annual Women's Playwriting Festival.

Cygnet Theatre, in collaboration with Playwrights Project, is proud to present the third annual Playwrights in Process: New Play Festival. Cygnet Theatre has long been committed to celebrating human stories through the medium of live theatre. Playwrights in Process will present four readings of new plays by selected Southern California playwrights. The four winning plays were selected from more than 160 submissions - more than triple the number from last year - with three of the playwrights coming from the San Diego region.

Two years ago, with funding from The James Irvine Foundation and in partnership with Latino Health Access, South Coast Repertory launched a play-development project in Santa Ana called Dialogue/Dialogos. The project captured the stories and memories of nearly 1,000 of the city's Latino residents, which created the core of a new bilingual play, The Long Road Today/El Largo Camino de Hoy,written by Jose Cruz Gonzalez.
