The Tony Award-winning Vineyard Theatre is presenting the world-premiere of the new musical THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, with music and lyrics by Tony Award-winners John Kander and Fred Ebb, book by David Thompson and directed by Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman with musical direction by David Loud.
THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, the highly anticipated new Kander and Ebb musical now in previews at the Vineyard Theatre, may be preparing itself for a Broadway transfer as early as this season, pending the availability of a theater. Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that heavy-hitting producers Fran and Barry Weissler have invested $400,000 into THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, and writes that 'If the reviews are strong, they'll move it to a small Broadway house, very possibly before this year's Tony cutoff date, should a theater become available.'
Casting has been announced for several upcoming productions from the American Musicals Project. The group will hold productions of Fiorello! on March 1st, Oklahoma!/Paint Your Wagon on March 8th, 'From On the Town to South Pacific' on March 15th, and The American Musicals Project Annual Gala Benefit's production of Show Boat on March 22nd.

Tickets to the eagerly-anticipated world-premiere of the Kander and Ebb musical THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS will go on-sale beginning Monday, January 4th, 2010, it has been announced by Douglas Aibel, Vineyard Theatre's Artistic Director. Mr. Aibel also announced that January 4th also marks the first day of rehearsals for the musical, which is directed and choregraphed by Susan Stroman.
On December 14, Joe's Pub showcased the second annual concert presentation of New York City Christmas, featuring special guests Sherie Rene Scott and Raul Esparza.
