Last night, at New Conservatory Theater Center's annual Season Announcement Party for subscribers, donors, artists and press, NCTC Founder & Artistic Director Ed Decker announced the line-up for the 2016-17 subscription season, which marks the 35th anniversary of the company. Regarded nationally and internationally as San Francisco's Premier LGBQI and Allied Theatre Company, NCTC breaks new ground with a season that features eight powerhouse plays and musicals, including three world premieres developed through NCTC's New Play Development Lab.

On Thursday, February 4, singer/songwriter Debby Holiday brings her show, 'The Musical Menagerie of Debby Holiday' to Martinis Above Fourth. From her father's standard 'Put A Little Love In Your Heart' to the music she grew up on, from AC/DC to David Bowie to Bette Midler, to her hard rock days, blues, and her dance music hits, it will be a night of music, song & laughter. Nashville's Best Honored at Midwinter's First Night

Nashville actor and NFL Hall of Famer Eddie George, who makes his Broadway debut Tuesday night in the iconic musical Chicago, was named First Night's Outstanding Leading Actor in a Play for his searing portrayal of a former slave haunted by the spectre of abuse in Nashville Repertory Theatre's The Whipping Man. Rene Dunshee Copeland, producing artistic director of Nashville Rep, was named Outstanding Director of a Play, while her three-actor ensemble (which included James Rudolph and Matthew Rosenbaum) were awarded as First Night's Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Play for their rendition of the Matthew Lopez play.

You have to wonder why it took someone so long to bring Del Shores' The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife to the Nashville stage. After all, the play opened to widespread acclaim in Los Angeles in 2003 and was made into a movie in 2011 (Blues for Willadean).
