There is something noble about earnestly attempting to do good, despite the overwhelming evidence that what you are embarking upon is almost certainly doomed to disappoint. Not only is that sentiment at the center of CARRIE THE MUSICAL, which Clandestine Arts is premiering in Central Florida through August 30th at the ME Theatre, but it also accurately describes the undertaking of performing this infamous piece of musical theatre history. Like Carrie's senior prom, unless everything goes unbelievably perfectly, the musical is likely going to be a substantial let-down. While Clandestine has put together an impressively talented group of young performers, especially in the show's four leads, the uneven and sloppy production undermines whatever power the piece might otherwise have had.

Producers Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman and The Transfer Group have announced that CARRIE THE MUSICAL will return to Los Angeles at the historic Los Angeles Theatre, the first theatrical musical at that venue. 

Peregrine Theatre Ensemble will be performing its entire 2015 season in the old high school auditorium at Provincetown Schools, 12 Winslow Street in Provincetown, MA. This allows Peregrine to transform the space into Carrie's high school in Chamberlain, Maine. During this interactive theatrical experience they invite the audience to attend prom and fully commit to the world of CARRIE the musical for a night they will never forget.

Actor-turned-filmmaker Michael Lee Stever (SUPER FORCE, BROADWAY: THE GOLDEN AGE) and revered stage actress and Academy Award nominee Piper Laurie (THE HUSTLER, TWIN PEAKS, CARRIE) are joining 'Scares That Care' founder Joe Ripple and his entire team tonight, tomorrow & Sunday in Williamsburg, Virginia for the second annual 'Scares That Care' Weekend film festival and convention.

Wareham are thrilled to present the first show in their 2015-2016 season, the smash-hit musical, FOOTLOOSE, stage adaption by Dean Pitchford & Walter Bobbie, based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford, music by Tom Snow, lyrics by Dean Pitchford with additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins & Jim Steinman. The musical direction is by Jeff Biering and the production will be choreographed and directed by Paula Hammons Sloan.

FOOTLOOSE will begin performances on Wednesday, July 8 and will run through Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.

Today in 1988, Carrie opened at the Virginia Theatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 5 performances. Carrie: The Musical is a musical with a book by Lawrence D. Cohen, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and music by Michael Gore. Adapted from Stephen King's novel Carrie, it focuses on an awkward teenage girl with telekinetic powers whose lonely life is dominated by an oppressive religious fanatic mother. When she is humiliated by her classmates at the high school prom, she wreaks havoc on everyone and everything in her path.

Carrie receives its long awaited London Premiere in The Large at Southwark Playhouse from Friday 1 to Saturday 30 May 2015, with a press night tonight 6 May. Preview performances were sold sold out, following the best on-sale week of any show in the venue's 22-year history.

It's not exactly a secret that cabaret has for decades been a world dominated by female entertainers. Sylvia Syms, Julie Wilson, Margaret Whiting, Karen Akers, KT Sullivan, Karen Mason and myriad others have assumed the top notches of the art form. But, perhaps, men might be taking their place among the front lines and a perfect example this past week were the shows from cabaret veterans Kevin Dozier and Frank Torren.

Full casting is announced today for Carrie, which will receive its long awaited London Premiere in The Large atSouthwark Playhouse from Friday 1 to Saturday 30 May 2015, with a press night on Wednesday 6 May. Amas Musical Theatre's Donna Trinkoff (Artistic Producer) Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy will present FAME: The Musical, based on the 1980 musical film conceived and developed by David De Silva, with a book by Jose Fernandez, lyrics by Jacques Levy, and music by Steve Margoshes (Title song 'Fame' by Dean Pitchford & Michael Gore). Directed by Christopher Scott and David Drake (Associate Director), choreography by Monica Johnson and musical direction by Trevor Bachman, the production will feature 29 members of 'The Teen Academy.'
