Following an acclaimed 2016 UK Tour, worldwide smash hit musical Footloose: The Musical will burst back onto the stage in 2017 starring Gareth Gates and Maureen Nolan, playing at the Belgrade Theatre from Tues 13 to Sat 17 June.

There seem to be something consistently appealing about the music of the 1980s; acts such as Rick Astley and Bananarama seem to attract more concert-goers today than they did in their heyday. It makes sense, therefore, for a revival of a musical featuring such classic hits as 'Holding Out For A Hero' and 'Let's Hear It For The Boy' would appeal to the current zeitgeist.

Musicals by Kander & Ebb and Rodgers & Hammerstein, plus a classic Neil Simon comedy are among the shows being performed at the Okoboji Summer Theatre owned by Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

???????Full casting is announced today for Footloose: The Musical, which returns next month following a smash-hit 2016 tour. Opening at New Wimbledon Theatre on Friday 21 April, the tour will include a strictly limited West End season at The Peacock, playing for three weeks from Tuesday 12 September 2017. 

Beck Center Teen Theater continues their 2016-2017 season with CARRIE the musical, March 24-26 and March 31-April 2, 2017 in the Mackey Theater. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. A student matinee will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 30. The beloved Surflight Theatre which survived 65 seasons, Hurricane Sandy and closed in early 2015 after a failed restructuring in 2013, will reopen on June 23, 2017 with the popular Dean Pitchford, Walter Bobbie, Tom Snow Musical Footloose.

Pushed to the brink, Carrie's powers threaten to overwhelm her, and devour everyone around her in flame.

Directed by Robert Devarona, Carrie the Musical will rise at the Hamilton Stage in Rahway, New Jersey starting this Friday.

But Chris Hargensen (Cassidy D'Agostino), the class's most vicious bully, and Billy Nolan (Alex Kerry), her not-so-bright boyfriend, have other ideas. Pushed to the brink, Carrie's powers threaten to overwhelm her, and devour everyone around her in flame.

The 1984 movie Footloose became a cult movie among teens and young twenties, not only because it showcased a rebel with a cause standing up for his rights, and displaying victory over misguided-adults, but because of the performance of Kevin Bacon as Ren McCormick.

The McLean Community Players' production of Footloose, the high-energy rock musical based on the movie of the same name, opens tonight, July 8, 2016, and runs weekends through July 24 at McLean's Alden Theatre.
