Pride Films and Plays Presents Five Decades of Great Gay Theatre 5/9-6/13

Pride Films and Plays, a new not-for-profit, is proud to announce its inaugural activities as an organization. The first two events scheduled are Five Decades of Great Gay Theater, May 9 - June 13, a series of staged reading of great gay plays, Theatre Building Chicago, 1225 West Belmont*, and the Great Gay Screenplay Contest, held in conjunction with Chicago Filmmakers. The contest seeks new screenplays dealing with gay history, characters or themes and relevant to the world. The semi-finalists will be read this fall during Reeling: The Chicago Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival.

The COUSINS GRIMM Premieres At Chicago's Bailiwick Repertory Theatre 7/10-8/23

Bailiwick Repertory Theatre's Artistic Director David Zak recently announced that a delightful new musical of GLTB fairy tales, The Cousins Grimm, will be featured in Bailiwick's 2009 Pride Series, playing July 10 to August 23 at Hoover-Leppen Theater at Center on Halsted, 3656 North Halsted, Chicago, Illinois.

Five years ago, Larry Bortniker and Sally Deering's hilarious new musical DR. SEX about the life of sex researcher Alfred C. Kinsey became a Jeff Award winning hit for Bailiwick Repertory in the old Bailiwick Arts Center. Now Bailiwick is back and on the road with BOMBS AWAY! HARAM IRAN Makes Encore Performance At Center On Halsted 5/22-5/24

Haram Iran, written by Jay Paul Deratany and Directed by David Zak, is based on the true story about the trial of two Iranian teenagers in Mashad, Iran in 2005. This play made its debut in Chicago last November, and is proud to announce three encore performances at Center on Halsted.
