In 2006 (I think... my mind is a little fuzzy), I had the privilege to be part of the original cast of "Don't Quit Your Night Job"-- an all Broadway Improv show. The show was created by Sarah Saltzberg, Steve Rosen, and David Rossmer. (PS - go see Steve and David in "The Other Josh Cohen" which starts previews Wed at the SoHo playhouse) all of them comedic gold. Now... it may seem like I'm milking my friends here, but I wouldn't post it if it wasn't true! Anyhow, I always had a fantasy of writing a sketch for the show involving David Hyde Pierce and Brian d'Arcy James. Why? Let me finish...

The producers of Peter and the Starcatcher, the five-time Tony Award-winning play by Rick Elice, today announced "The Thing You Did" Initiative, which will provide people with the opportunity to have their inspirational stories told on a Broadway stage. Through this initiative, which was inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama's remarks at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, members of the public are invited to share a personal story of a time in their life when someone reached back to help them achieve a goal, or a time when they reached back to help someone else achieve theirs. Stories will then be selected to be told onstage by the cast after specific performances throughout the month of November.

Cast members of Peter and the Starcatcher, including Celia Keenan-Bolger, Matthew Saldivar, Adam Chanler-Berat, Carson Elrod, Matt D'Amico, John Sanders, Betsy Hogg and Orville Mendoza today headed Off-Broadway to see SkippyJon Jones, the new children's musical written by their co-star, Kevin Del Aguila (Smee). Berkshire Playwrights Lab announced that its staged reading of James DeMarse's new play, Existing Privilege, that was to be directed by Matthew Penn on August 8 will now take place on August 22, directed by Joe Cacaci, and with the new title, Ceasefire.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hunger Games director Gary Ross will helm an upcoming film adaptation of PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS- the book on which the Tony-winning play is based. Jesse Wigutow is on board to pen the script.
