David Pittsinger and Carmen Cusack to Star in Chicago Engagement of SOUTH PACIFIC, 11/24 - 11/29

Bob Boyett and NETworks Presentations announce casting for the Chicago area engagement of the National Tour of The Lincoln Center Theater Production of Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein's prize-winning musical SOUTH PACIFIC, directed by Bartlett Sher. The Tony Award-winning production will play the Rosemont Theatre for a limited one-week engagement Nov. 24 - 29, 2009.

SOUTH PACIFIC Comes To The Peace Center 11/17-11/22

The National Touring Company of Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC will be led by Rod Gilfry (Emile de Becque) and Carmen Cusack (Nellie Forbush), with Anderson Davis (Lt. Cable), Matthew Saldivar (Luther Billis), Keala Settle (Bloody Mary), Gerry Becker (Capt. Brackett), Peter Rini (Cmdr. Harbison), Sumie Maeda (Liat), Rusty Ross (Professor) and original 2008 Broadway cast member Genson Blimline (Stewpot).

Bob Boyett and NETworks Presentations announce casting for the National Tour of The Lincoln Center Theater Production of Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein's prize-winning musical SOUTH PACIFIC, directed by Bartlett Sher playing the Belk Theater in Charlotte Nov. 10-15 as part of the Duke Energy Broadway Lights series.

Gilfry Takes Hiatus from SOUTH PACIFIC to Play Captain Von Trapp in Theatre du Chatelet's THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Rod Gilfry will take a brief hiatus from his role as Emile de Becque in the national tour of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific, and will whisk away to Paris where he will star in will Emilio Sagi's production of The Sound of Music at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris from Dec. 6, 2009 through Jan. 3, 2010. Gilfry will play Captain Von Trapp opposite a rotating trio of actresses, including Sylvia Schwartz, Julie Fuchs and Christine Arand, who will play Maria.

The Met Expands Its Repertory In The 2009-10 Season

Eight new productions, four of which are company premieres, will highlight the Metropolitan Opera's 2009-10 season. General Manager Peter Gelb and Music Director James Levine jointly announced plans that include: the Met premieres of Rossini's Armida, Verdi's Attila, Jan?ček's From the House of the Dead, and Shostakovich's The Nose; new productions of Bizet's Carmen, Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Thomas's Hamlet, and Puccini's Tosca; and 18 revivals from the company's repertory. The season is the first to be entirely planned under Gelb's leadership, in collaboration with Levine (the past three seasons were planned before Gelb became General Manager in 2006-07 but included some productions, repertoire, and casting changes made by Gelb).

BWW joined the fun as the Broadway favorite viewed his portrait at Sardi's, Sardi's Restaurant is located at 234 West 44th Street.

NYC Opera Presents 'ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA' 1/15

New York City Opera is proud to present the company premiere of Samuel Barber's Antony and Cleopatra in concert on January 15 and 16, 2009 at 8 PM in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium. Soprano Lauren Flanigan sings the role of Cleopatra opposite baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes, in his New York City Opera debut, as Antony. The cast includes rising tenor Simon O'Neill as Caesar and City Opera favorites David Pittsinger as Enobarbus, Sandra Piques Eddy as Charmian and Laura Vlasak Nolen as Iras. City Opera Music Director George Manahan will conduct. The company's celebration of Samuel Barber's upcoming centennial will also include a Symposium on Antony and Cleopatra on Saturday, January 10, co-presented by and taking place at Miller Theatre at Columbia University, which will feature City Opera soprano Elizabeth Futral in a unique recital of musical depictions and evocations of Cleopatra.

SOUTH PACIFIC'S Samonsky is New Cable 1/6, Anderson and Caplan 'Promoted' Too

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced today three upcoming cast changes in three featured roles in its award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, directed by Bartlett Sher at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Beginning Tuesday, January 6, Andrew Samonsky will assume the role of Lt. Joseph Cable, Eric Anderson the role of Stewpot and Matt Caplan the role of Professor, succeeding, respectively, Matthew Morrison, Victor Hawks and Noah Weisberg.

Bass-Baritone David Pittsinger has assumed the role of Emile de Becque in Lincoln Center Theater's Tony Award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater for a limited time. He has stepped in for the production's current Emile de Becque, Tony Winning baritone Paulo Szot, who had to leave the musical to honor two previously scheduled opera commitments.
