Portland Center Stage at The Armory's 2016-2017 season kicks off with the hilarious and rockin' sci-fi musical, Little Shop of Horrors, based on the film by Roger Corman, with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. The demonic plant will take over the U.S. Bank Main Stage with preview performances beginning September 10; an opening night on September 16; and performances running through October 16. Bill Fennelly directs a cast featuring Nick Cearley, Gina Milo, Jamison Stern, Chaz Rose, David Meyers, Ebony Blake, Johari Nandi and Alexis Tidwell.

In response to popular demand, Labyrinth Theater Company extends the New York premiere of The Way West by Mona Mansour to April 10. The production, which opened on March 16, is directed by Labyrinth Artistic Director Mimi O'Donnell and features Labyrinth Company Member and Obie award-winner Deirdre O'Connell. The Way West is a new, offbeat comedy about life and debt. The production must close on the 10th.

Black Box Studios continues to serve the NJ arts community with their March programming, which kicked off with their fourth edition of Improv Bowl, and added performances of family favorite, The Tale of the Dragon's Tail.  This month's repertoire includes readings of classics by Bertolt Brecht, and the first Uncensored Adolescents at the Black Box Performing Arts Center.

Due to popular demand and critical acclaim, Labyrinth Theater Company (Artistic Director Mimi O'Donnell, Executive Director Danny Feldman) extends the world premiere of Empanada Loca, written and directed by Aaron Mark, to November 15. The production, which opened on October 21, features two-time Tony nominee and Labyrinth Theater Company member Daphne Rubin-Vega. Empanada Loca is a solo thriller set in modern day New York City inspired by true events and the legend of Sweeney Todd.

All tickets for this performance will be distributed via an online lottery system at labtheater.org. The lottery will open on October 26 at noon and will close at noon on October 30 at noon and winners will be contacted by 2pm.

Broadway and TV actor Michael Pemberton, soon to be seen on the upcoming season of HBO's Emmy Award-winning comedy Veep, is set to star in the premiere of the powerful new drama BROKEN which will run from April 9-26 at Shetler Studios Theatres (244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor). The play centers on the interactions between a prison doctor and a teenage inmate who committed a terrible mass shooting spree less than a month ago.
