Jeff Skowron will return as the Grinch in the Globe's 13th annual production of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Skowron made his Globe debut as the Grinch in last season's production. The annual holiday musical, directed by James Vasquez with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin, will run in the Old Globe Theatre Nov. 20 - Dec. 26. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is proud to announce several special events that will take place alongside the Festival's 30 new musical productions, including an opening night gala celebration and master class with Baz Luhrmann and the 2010 NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation Competition.
Rehearsals begin yesterday, Monday, April 5 for the World Premiere production of PARADISE FOUND, a new musical under the combined direction of Theater legend and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince (the original productions of Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Follies, Evita) and 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, Show Boat, The Producers, Contact). This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26. The world premiere production of The Road to Qatar, starring Brian Gonzales and Lee Zarrett begins tonight, October 9th at the Lyric Stage of Irving Texas. The show is written by Stephen Cole (After the Fair, The Night of the Hunter) and scored by David Krane. The musical was inspired by Cole and Krane's real-life experience that involved writing a new musical for Middle Eastern audiences. Performances run through Oct. 24.
