George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced the casting of MARLO THOMAS, award-winning actress of stage and screen, in the world premiere production of Clever Little Lies, by Tony Award-winner JOE DiPIETRO (rescheduled from the 2012-13 season). Mr. Saint will helm the production, slated to take the stage in New Brunswick, November 19 - December 22. The remainder of the cast will be announced at a later date.
In celebration of this extraordinary legacy on the occasion of the series' 40th anniversary on PBS, a stellar roster of diverse alumni gather to share their personal stories of what Great Performances has meant to them, with reminiscences and performances by Julie Andrews, Audra McDonald, Don Henley, David Hyde Pierce, Josh Groban, Itzhak Perlman, Peter Martins, Patti Austin and Take 6, Met Opera star El?na Garan?a and Michael Buble. The evening, taped at Lincoln Center last November, will be televised on Great Performances, Friday, October 18 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings).
'ALL THAT GLITTERS', an unauthorized biography of a ground-breaking legend, an opulent musical event about the greatest showman on earth is on its way to Broadway for the 2014-15 season, directed and choreographed by Alexander DeJong. The Tony Award winning Matilda the Musical welcomes today, September 3, Craig Bierko and Jill Paice to the company as Miss Trunchbull and Miss Honey, respectively. Bertie Carvel and Lauren Ward played their final performances in those roles on September 1.
The Texas Repertory Theatre Company is opening its ninth season with Larry Shue's THE NERD, a comedic play in two acts. The simplistic comedy had its world premiere at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in April 1981, and it starred Larry Shue in the role of Willum Cubbert. Glowing press and strong word of mouth eventually enabled the play to open on Broadway, where it played 441 performances from March 22, 1987 to April 10, 1988. Plot wise, there really is not much here. The play centers on the fact that Willum Cubbert was saved by a man named Rick Stedman when they were both in Vietnam. However, Willum was unconscious when his life was saved, so he and Rick have never met. Through ongoing correspondence the ever-grateful Willum has promised to welcome Rick with open arms should he ever come to Terre Haute, Indiana. Out of the blue, Rick turns up at Willum's home and proves himself to be the houseguest from hell.

Milligan's one-man play is inspired by America's horror stories of the uninsured, many of whom suffer financial tragedies on top of chronic illnesses. The festival performance featured the debut of Mercy Killers outside of the U.S.
