The 25th anniversary celebration of GYPSY OF THE YEAR, the culmination of six weeks of extraordinary fundraising by 56 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and national touring companies, raised an amazing $4,343,234 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The grand total was announced Tuesday, December 10, at this year's GYPSY OF THE YEAR, which included an array of original dances, songs, and skits performed by more than 250 'gypsies,' the most talented singers and dancers in the ensembles of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.

Last night, Newsies cast members Jacob Guzman, David Guzman, and Iain Young traveled to Boston to see former cast member Kevin Carolan as Baloo in The Jungle Book at the Huntington Theatre Company. Performances continue through October 20. Check out the photo below!

Last night, eight-time Grammy Award winner and 2009 Tony® Award nominee Dolly Parton, attended a performance of Newsies, the Tony® Award winning new American musical, and visited with the cast backstage afterwards. Parton attended with the show's director, Jeff Calhoun. Calhoun first worked with Parton when he was cast as a dancer in the 1982 film version of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and recently directed both the US and UK tours of her Broadway musical 9 to 5.

Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) welcomes "Queen of Harps"Catrin Finch and Metropolitan Opera star Bryn Terfel for a Welsh Celebration at Avery Fisher Hall on Sunday, April 22nd. This stirring evening of music will feature Karl Jenkins' harp concerto Over the Stone, conducted by DCINY Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Jonathan Griffith; Haydn's joyous St. Nicholas Mass and Joseph Martin's The Awakening, conducted by Richard W. Weymuth; a special appearance by the acclaimed New York choral group KHORIKOS; and a selection of Welsh folksongs performed by Terfel and Finch.
The semi-finals have arrived and the competition is nothing short of intense as the four remaining couples charm audiences with three routines. Their first performance is an Argentine Tango, their second dance is either a Paso Doble or Samba - one of which is a style dance they have not yet performed - and their third dance will be the Cha Cha relay, in which all couples will dance to the same song.

Music by José 'Pepe' Martinez, music director of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, with libretto by acclaimed Broadway director and author Leonard Foglia, the opera will be performed in concert by a cast that includes mezzo-soprano Cecilia Duarte, baritone and HGO studio alumnus Octavio Moreno, and Martinez, together with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the Wortham Theater Center in Houston, Texas. This will be Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán's only Houston performance in 2010.
