Film Society of Lincoln Center Announces Summer Late-Night Film Series

he Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the continuation of a summer tradition of showcasing great genre classics to beat the heat. Following the tradition of last summer's popular "Midnight Movies" series, each film in the new "Freaky Friday" series will kick off the weekend at 11pm and have the same weekly blend of mind-melting, gross-out horror as well as some rarely screened classic cult favorites in glorious 35mm, curated by Film Society programmer and Film Comment Editor Gavin Smith.

Pacific Symphony's critically-acclaimed American Composers Festival (ACF) continues for the 14th year with 'From Screen to Score: New Concert Music by Famous Film Composers'-who happen to be four of today's biggest Hollywood heavy-hitters: John Williams ('Star Wars,' 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,' 'E.T., the Extra Terrestrial'), Howard Shore ('Lord of the Rings,' 'The Hobbit,' 'Hugo'), James Horner ('Titanic,' 'Star Trek,' 'Apollo 13') and Elliot Goldenthal ('Alien 3,' 'Batman Forever' and 'Batman and Robin'). The Museum of Modern Art honors Dante Ferretti (Italian, b. 1943) with a large-scale multimedia installation comprising a 12-screen labyrinth featuring projected scenes from his work; original set pieces from the films that earned him three Academy Awards; and a six-month retrospective of 22 films featuring the production designer's career-defining work. DANTE FERRETTI: DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION FOR THE CINEMA, on view from today, September 28, 2013 through February 9, 2014, features large-scale, original set pieces recovered from sets designed by Ferretti, including the chandeliers from Pier Paolo Pasolini's SALÓ, or THE 120 DAYS OF SODOM (1977) and the massive, illuminated clock from Martin Scorsese's HUGO (2011), as well as sculptural objects created for the Venice Film Festival.

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Zeke Zelker is taking his latest movie project in a bit of a different direction. He will be staging a theatrical production of his web series that acts as a companion piece to his latest movie "Billboard an Uncommon Contest for Common People!" on November 7th , 7:30 PM at the State Theatre in Easton, PA. The staged production is titled, "The Great WTYT 960 Billboard Sitting Contest Live!". Imagine what happens when four people who don't know each other, live on a catwalk ten feet wide, by forty feet long, twenty feet in the air, in front of a billboard to win a mobile home and "nine-sixty" thousand dollars. This will interactive event where the audience will be able to correspond with the characters via social media affecting the story outcome. This will be unlike anything that people have experienced before.
