This is a world premiere of an adaptation by Austin Pendleton and the acting company drawing on Marian Fell's translation. Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, the play looks at family and friends pursuing the American dream of fame, love, and fortune in Hollywood, the land of dreams. Chekhov's sense of humor along with his tender and honest look at life is explored through the terrain of this family and their circle's life in Hollywood from 1969-1971. Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Machinal, starring Rebecca Hall, written by Sophie Treadwell and directed by Lyndsey Turner, began previews on December 20, 2013 ahead of an official opening on January 16, 2014 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway. Preston Copley, formerly of Disney Theatrical Group, where he served directly under President Thomas Schumacher on the gamut of the commercial producer's Global productions, has joined Jean Doumanian Productions as Director of Creative Development for Theater, working alongside Jean Doumanian, and Vice President, Patrick Daly. In his new position, Copley will be identifying existing work and developing new theatrical content for commercial productions on and off-Broadway, and for audiences abroad.

The Public Theater announced today that Emily Skeggs has joined the company as Medium Alison in the hit musical FUN HOME. Alexandra Socha, who originated the role, has left the show for personal reasons. Directed by Sam Gold and featuring music by Jeanine Tesori, with book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and based on Alison Bechdel's graphic novel, the critically acclaimed musical has been extended three times due to overwhelming demand. TimeLine Theatre Company announces 9 additional performances of its acclaimed production of The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer, directed by Nick Bowling. Originally scheduled to close on December 22, The Normal Heart will now run through December 29, 2013, plus three additional Tuesday performances at 7:30 pm on December 3, December 10 and December 17, at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago. Tickets to newly added performances are on sale starting today.
Writers Theatre has announced the On To A New Stage Campaign, a $31 million fundraising campaign that will establish the nationally-recognized company's new home - a theatre center designed by Chicago's internationally renowned Studio Gang Architects, led by principal Jeanne Gang.

3Arts is honored to announce the ten recipients of its 6th annual 3Arts Awards, presented to women artists, artists of color and artists with disabilities working in the performing, teaching and visual arts. The awards will be presented tonight, Monday, Oct. 21, by the 3Arts Board of Directors and Awards Host Committee in a celebratory gathering at the Museum of Contemporary Art. 3Arts has awarded over $1 million in total grants to more than 100 Chicago artists in the past six years.

La Jolla Playhouse announces a fifth production for its 2013/14 season: the world premiere of The Tallest Tree, a new play with music written and performed by Daniel Beaty (Emergency, Through the Night), directed by Moises Kaufman (I Am My Own Wife, The Laramie Project). A co-production with Kansas City Repertory Theatre, The Tallest Tree will run in The Playhouse's Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre tonight, October 9 - November 3, 2013. The piece is produced in association with Tectonic Theater Project.
