Brassland's Buke and Gase, Tinariwen, Jherek Bischoff and More Go on Tour, Now thru 8/2

Brassland artists Brooklyn-based duo Buke and Gase--Arone Dyer on the 'buke' (a self-modified six-string former baritone ukulele) and Aron Sanchez on the 'gase' (a guitar-bass hybrid of his own creation)--will perform this summer 2012 songs from the new album they've been meticulously readying for release this fall. One very catchy preview track called 'Hiccup' can be heard right here. It's already been named a Pitchfork 'Best New Track.' They will open for Tinariwen, details below.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Announces Full Casts of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, THE BLUE DEEP This Summer

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten has announced today the full cast and creative teams for the first two productions of the 2012 season: The Importance of Being Earnest and the World Premiere of The Blue Deep. The Importance of Being Earnest will be presented on the Main Stage from June 26 through July 14 (opening June 28) and The Blue Deep will grace the Nikos Stage from June 27 through July 8 (opening June 28). Both casts arrived in Williamstown today for their first rehearsals on the bucolic Williams College campus in preparation for the runs of these exciting and unique productions at the Festival.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten has announced a series of special events that will enhance the previously announced 2012 summer season. Additions to the Festival's 58th season include one-night-only stand-up comedy performances from Lewis Black on July 9th and Susie Essman (who will also appear in the Nikos Stage production of Last of the Red Hot Lovers) on July 23rd. Also added to the schedule is a reading of Dustin Lance Black's political docudrama 8, presented in partnership with Broadway Impact as a benefit for the American Foundation for Equal Rights. The Festival's popular Late-Night Cabaret Series returns, featuring Festival stars in rarely seen performances.
