Public Theater reecntly announced the line-up for its 2012-2013 Season, beginning in the fall with an October rededication of The Public's historic downtown building. The season continues the theater's nearly 60 year tradition of developing new theatrical voices and presenting Shakespeare to the entire New York community. Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten announced today the full cast and creative team for A Month in the Country, the last Main Stage production of the season which will be presented from August 1 through August 19 (opening August 2). The cast began rehearsals today on the idyllic Williams College campus in preparation for their run in the Festival's 2012 season.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten has announced a series of special events that will enhance the previously announced 2012 summer season. Additions to the Festival's 58th season include one-night-only stand-up comedy performances from Lewis Black tonight, July 9th and Susie Essman (who will also appear in the Nikos Stage production of Last of the Red Hot Lovers) on July 23rd. Also added to the schedule is a reading of Dustin Lance Black's political docudrama 8, presented in partnership with Broadway Impact as a benefit for the American Foundation for Equal Rights. The Festival's popular Late-Night Cabaret Series returns, featuring Festival stars in rarely seen performances.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten announced today the full cast and creative team for The Elephant Man, which will be presented on the Nikos Stage from July 25 through August 5 (opening July 26).

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten has announced the opening of the first two productions of the 2012 season: The Importance of Being Earnest on the Main Stage and the World Premiere of The Blue Deep on the Nikos Stage on June 28. It is the first time in the Festival's 58-year history that two shows have opened on the same night to kick-off the season.

Goldenvoice presents David Bryne & St. Vincent will play one night only in San Francisco at the SHN Orpheum Theatre on Monday, October 15. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 22 at 10 AM.

Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honoree David Byrne and St. Vincent will play Segerstrom Center for the Arts October 12 at 8 p.m. in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall during the pair's highly anticipated fall tour to support their soon-to-be-released album, Love This Giant.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten announced today the full cast and creative teams for Last of the Red Hot Lovers, which will be presented on the Nikos Stage from July 11 through July 22 (opening July 12), and the Preview Production of Far From Heaven, which will play the Main Stage from July 19 through July 29 (opening July 21). Both shows begin rehearsals today in preparation for their runs at the Festival.

Over 20 years in the making, singer songwriter Glen Hansard will release his first ever solo album, Rhythm and Repose, on Anti- Records today, June 19. Best known for his work with The Frames, The Swell Season and in the feature film Once, for which he won an Academy Award, Rhythm and Repose is Hansard's debut solo album and first album of new material since his 2009 release Strict Joy with The Swell Season. The album will be available for pre-sale at the Anti Store. In recent months Hansard has been seen in the documentary The Swell Season which has toured the film festival circuit this year, contributed two songs to the blockbuster soundtrack, The Hunger Games, and been active in the promotion of Once, The Musical which successfully opened on Broadway on March 18. Brassland artists Brooklyn-based duo Buke and Gase--Arone Dyer on the 'buke' (a self-modified six-string former baritone ukulele) and Aron Sanchez on the 'gase' (a guitar-bass hybrid of his own creation)--will perform this summer 2012 songs from the new album they've been meticulously readying for release this fall. One very catchy preview track called 'Hiccup' can be heard right here. It's already been named a Pitchfork 'Best New Track.' They will open for Tinariwen, details below.
